I consider myself a mild crossdresser, no skirts or dresses in public, I'm more a flowery blouses and pastel cardies kinda girl. This gets me the odd second look. I'm now trying to choose a hobby, perhaps to get me that third look, so I'd like to know your opinions on which needleart would best achieve that. I suppose I'm really trying to out myself very gradually.
Trying to hide my girliness less every day.

I wouldn't consider any of them "macho", because most guys would have no interest in any of them.  That said, do what I want.  I think sewing is by far the most practical.  With it you can modify clothes you buy to fit you, or even create your own from patterns and fabric.

I have a sewing machine but have yet to use it.  Once I fully move in and get organized I'm sure I'll use it for garment modifications but doubt I'll get into it as a hobby where I make my own clothes.

With sewing you can also make repairs to your favorite clothes that you don't want to throw away.  Maybe a dress hem that gives out or a strap that starts to separate on a top.  Very practical and easy if you're all set up and have done it a while.

Most Macho men would reject all of them.

Those that do would do knitting and reject the rest. Rosie Greer(football player) knitted.

I remember reading that about Rosie.  And he was about as macho as they came back in the day.  In high school my long time girl friend (who knew I was a crossdresser) taught me how to do cross stitch and needle point.  In the past few years I have been getting into sewing.  I find it puts a smile on my face to sit and watch TV while hand stitching a favorite delicate... :)
There are few limits - just unexplored options.
