Douching devices...

Just a quick question on the variety of douching devices available - and what works best. The clinic in Bangkok provided a rubber bulb douche which is very similar to those used for rectal enemas. Getting that rubber point inside to a good depth in me is not easy, and then squeezing it empty without the end colliding with healing tissues was not easy.

My gynocologist suggested using Vagoclyss which is a more mild solution than betadine - and contains lactic acid which is typically produced by lactobacillus found in normal vagina. This helps generate a more natural ph balance. Since he worked with many transgender patients I'm assuming he knows what he is doing. The delivery mechanism is a pre-sealed 120ml sachet of fluid - with a long thin plastic tube. This slid up inside, and much deeper and easier than the rubber bulb. And provided a much more thorough cleaning experience.

Having finished one pack I decided to but a 60ml syringe with narrow tube outlet and attached the tube from an empty vagoclyss sachet. The seal is perfect, and the kit can be very easily cleaned and sterilized. Just remember to press the plunger slowly - the aim is not to drill a water hole into the skin! It also allows a decent amount of betadine solution should the mucus excretion become bad again.

So has anyone else identified other alternatives for douching apart from the rubber bulb?

Actually, I just bought a bunch of generic disposable douches from Target. Brassard wanted us to do the rubber bulb thing too, but I decided it was worth $1 per to me not to have to juggle all that hassle on top of the rest of the aftercare. :) I believe they were vinegar and water, as he recommended...

I like the old fashioned type.

You know the red bag type that you hang.

Liked it better then the squeeze bottle. Let the douche flow.

Got it at wal-mart but most pharmacy should have.

Just my own personal liking.
