I am planing on building for me when I go full time, my question is that how I go about that. I am reaching my 6 month mark soon , not full time yet and mainly in guy mode but I would love to start getting my closet built.
I don't what size will I be and thats my main issue.
Whats your advice on building a closet ? is it really helpful ? what are the dos and don'ts ?

Sorry if I sound a bit daft but I have no idea if you are talking figuratively or literally...do you mean getting a wardrobe of clothes together or you actually want to build the wardrobe itself...?

Yes, Ali, you've left a couple of confused girls over here.   I'll take a stab at this one, Ms Grace, and since I know nothing about carpentry I'll take the other tack!

Ali, if you don't know your size, or what will suit you, the best thing is to accompany a sister if you have one, or else a friend of approximately your size.

Go to some of the larger and more informal stores where the staff don't follow you around.  Let your friend select the clothes, with some of your assistance, and accompany her (as the boyfriend  :D) to the changerooms.  You'll quickly find what sizes you will need and what clothing will suit you.

It would help to understand your body type before you go shopping, so that you select things that are likely to favour you.  There are many websites which explain this.

Ah, and I'm assuming your talking about M2F, and since you don't tell us anything about you...

I have power tools, tape measure and glue so can help you with the other one if needed.
Just send through the space you have and we will go from there.

Any particular colour?
So long and thanks for all the fish

I can with construction of a space called a closet, but Julia's advice sounds more fun.

Thanks for your advice, yes I am MTF trans* the thing is that I know my size now but that will change as  lose/ gain weight through the journey, so I don't want to buy stuff in the right size for now and won't fit later :/

Hi,

I started by purchasing shoes.  Feet do not change size much so you can get them now and wear them for a long time.  Plus, there are great sales on shoes and your not in hurry so you can find bargins!!  Then, I started working on coats.  Plus, I tried on a lot wihtout intending to purchase so I could find my style, what I liked.

Hugs,

Jen
To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

My advice, start with a smaller wardrobe of things that are forgiving as far as size.  I have a ton of clothes that are just a tad too large due to changes in size.  Wait till you hit a pretty stable size before you buy lots clothes that require you to fit it.  I'm basically wearing stuff that is size 0-2, but most of my clothes are between size 5-10.  I can still wear most of it with a  belt, it is just a little loose.  Tops are worse off when you best fit a small but have a lot of mediums/larges.

One thing you learn real quick is that you won't be 1 size when it comes to womans clothes.  LOL

I wear fairly casual stuff... skinny jeans and stretchy fitted tops/T's.  For my jeans I ended up buying a few pairs of padded panties to mimic the extra weight that will go to my rather small bum that I currently have.  This helps fill out the bum in the jeans to make them look like the appropriate and gives me an idea of sizes for jeans, although they vary between 5-7 for me.
