I recently went to a new LGBT support group meet. I did not know anyone there. Anyways for like 30 mins or so before I introduced myself, folks there thought I was FTM. Due to some personal circumstances I had ended up reaching the meeting in full boy mode.

Am not sure if this was a compliment or just a transition fail on my part... How would you react say you are in guy mode and you get the reactions I did?

But you know what, by the end of the meeting I think I made really amazing friends... Thanks to the organizers...

If you were in full boy mode it sounds like a reasonable assumption on their part. Glad it went well for you.

I had a similar experience. I went along to a TG support group dressed in boy mode as I was told I could wear pretty much whatever and boy mode seemed easiest for me at the time. When I got to the meeting I discovered that I was the only TG that wasn't wearing a dress or a skirt or without make up of any sort. A few of the others attending thought I was a cis-woman. I think one also questioned whether if I was thinking of transitioning to being a man. It was also implied that I was a young 'un, but I soon set them straight that I was middle aged.

Overall I took the whole situation as a compliment, but I did feel woefully underdressed during the whole evening.
Nobody's perfect ...   I'll never try,
But I promise I'm worth it, if you just open up your eyes,
I don't need a second chance, I need a friend,
Someone who's gonna stand by me right there till the end,
If you want the best of my heart, you've just gotta see the good in me.

I guess without my wig and in full guy formals. I do come across as a guy albeit a feminine looking person. But you are so right. Its becoming more and more to difficult to pass as a guy..

When I told my dentist about me being trans I was presenting in male mode and he thought I was a FTM

We reach that intermediate state and sometimes people can't tell. I wasn't offended by it at all.
