I was going to use the Sacramento Gender Health Center and even asked for an appointment, but Kaiser finally came through at the last minute.  It's nice that it's free, or will charge only what a client/patient can afford.  They also use some medical and psych students for additional help, so you may see an intern during your first visit.  But what the heck, it's an appointment that gets you on the way.  They may do HRT with a letter of Informed Consent, or depending on the patient they may want to have you go through their therapy sessions.  However, even the therapy is no cost, or low cost.

A lot of people in California don't like Kaiser for some reason, but I've been a member all my life and now it's really paying off.  If you're looking for health care coverage you may want to check them out.  They have a trans program someplace in Sac, but I've never gone there.  I usually deal directly with the Kaiser Multi Specialty Transitions Clinic in Oakland where they have Trans familiar doctors, therapists, social workers, and nursing staff.  They have a separate building and the Clinic personnel are clearly trained, and specifically dedicated to trans care.  When a patient has completed a year of HRT and RLE, and they want surgery the clinic also does all approvals in one day with no letters or special evaluations.  They even set up the consult with the surgeon and fly patients to Scottsdale for the appointments.  It's great.  I'm waiting to see how it all works out for me.  :)

Take care and let us know what happens.
