So on to my next big step....

Hey everybody,
So I've been away for kinda awhile even though I'm still somewhat in lurker status anyways lol. I posted a topic earlier in the week about me and my wife finally separating, sad I know but I know I'm set in the decision and that it's for the best for everyone. So after much thought this week and feeling pretty much better than I ever have in my life I finally started looking into the best place I could seek out for HRT. I ended up settling with the Mazzoni Center in Philly. It's only a little less than an hours drive for me and seems to be like the most amazing place and comes highly recommended. Long story short they contacted me almost right away after filling out there new patient information online. I already have my first appointment set for this upcoming monday and follow up for that in December which should hopefully be when I actually am able to begin taking hormones. I can't believe it I'm so excited but in a very realistic sense. I wasn't sure how long it would actually take me to get to this step but after coming out and going to therapy almost three months ago along with everything else finally falling into to place I know it is finally the time. So yea I guess that's it for now. I'll let you all know how the appointment goes and keep you posted. Wish me luck, I'm sure you'll be seeing even more and more of me now so get used to it lol.

I go to Mazzoni for 2 years and I love it.

My PA is Dusty Latimer and he is empowering as well as beautiful.

I was there 4 times in the last 3 weeks. They are very caring.

I wanted to go on injections and used the portal. I was advised to set up an appointment. At the appointment I requested injections and stated why. I was told sure, get blood drawn, pick up the needles and estrogen next door and come back for injection training. I passed out after the blood draw and puked for an hour ( I really hate needles). I had to schedule the injection training for the following Monday.

I showed up for injection training and proceeded with the injection and after fainted.

2 weeks later (this Monday) I redid the injection training and was cleared for self injections.

Tuesday I did laser.

I originally did my intake with Elaine Dutton, I was very fragile (at the time) and she got me the best therapist I could have hoped for.

I love Mazzoni. They do trans care, laser, counseling, food bank, group ( I attend every Thursday) and they sponsor the Trans Health Conference. My therapist is recommended though Mazzoni.

Wow Cynthia I didn't expect a response from someone who uses them too so fast. You pretty much just confirmed everything I've researched and heard. I gotta watch getting this excited now or the anticipation is gonna kill me and sorry to hear about all the fainting btw hope that gets better lol.

It is because this is my family now!  I feel terrible when I do miss someone who needs help though.  These maternal instincts just get stronger every day  If you have not already start a journal of you journey. It will be valuable to read when you think things are not working in the future.

So today was the day of my appointment and wow what an amazing experience it was like I'm still can't get over it. Everyone I dealt with there was literally like the sweetest nicest person I've ever met lol especially my Doctor, she was incredible. One of my number one concerns was my current financial situation having no insurance and being unemployed for the time being and I quickly learned that was not a concern at all. I can not get over the price I paid for my visit or how affordable my hormones are going to be. All around just an amazing first experience and I highly recommend Mazzoni to anyone who lives close to Phili. They offer so many services beyond HRT and are a truly incredible resource. My next appointment is in early December and if there are no problems with my bloodwork I will already be ready to receive my first dose. I can't get over how fast it's happening now and I'm so excited and nervous more than I have felt in awhile. It's still only been a very short time and so much has happened already and can't even fathom what is still to come but I know that I'm finally feeling true happiness for the first time in my life and I'm rolling with that as long as I can. That was one heck of a run on sentence lol, I apologize for that.

I love Mazzoni too. I go to group on Thursday's at 21 S 12 ST. 6-7 PM, 8th floor.  They have their legal department and  therapists there. If you need there is free HIV testing at 12th and Locust. The gayborhood is an accepting place for trans*.

I woke up on the floor twice recently at doctors visits. Now when they see me everyone knows me and smiles and kids around.

I was hoping to find out more about their groups I'm sure I'll see you at one one of these days. I had never been to that part of the city before. I never even really liked cities lol but I loved that part. I'm sorry to hear about you waking up on the floor though and hope all is well now.

Just got a call from mazzoni earlier today and they had a cancellation and were able to bump my next appointment up a month so now instead of waiting 8 weeks, it's less than two. So beyond excited about that like seriously the best news ever lol.
