Photoshop cs 2 is, last I checked, available for free on adobe's website. It's an older version, but it should work fine for your purposes :)

Oh, cool! I might check it out, then.  ;D I do have GIMP, but I don't know how it compares to Photoshop.

That said, I doubt I'll be able to do anything impressive with it haha.  :P I'm a total "n00b" when it comes to things like that. (though I suppose I could improve with practice and looking up tutorials and stuff)

Well if you get Photoshop( if cs2 is free), I can make a tutorial or two for you. The technique needed even works with the older versions like cs2. It is easy to do if you are just messing around with hairstyles for fun. Not making graphics for use in some project or whatever. I don't use any other photo editing software so I can't help there. Let me know.

:P
I've been afraid of changing, cuz I built my life around you.
but time makes you bolder, children get older , I'm getting older too.

I wish shaved sides wasn't a no for you because I think with your amazing face shape it would look boss.

Aww, you don't have to!  :D I'm sure there are tutorials out there already, I don't want to waste your time.

Wow, would I really? :o Haha part of the reason why it's a "no" is because I don't know anyone my age.. all of my "friends" are family, and they're all 35+. I'd be afraid they'd mock me for my hair.  :P

OK as a MTF I love long hair. I love the length of your hair. But maybe something straight across the shoulder blades? Maybe shoulder length? Definitely no buzz or extremely short. Guys, cis, trans or FTM, I love the long hair. Tats are cool too especially sleeves. Now I will shut up.

Are you hinting that I should get tattoos, Jess?  ;)

It would be easy and won't take long since I have the tools. You find a pic online with a hair style you want to try. I can use your photo and do it in photoshop, making a vid of the process. would be fun, I like fun

You have to get photoshop tho so you can then do this stuff on your own, you would have fun and get better the more times you do it!

i completely understand being worried about judgement in that situation, but yea I think it would look really cool. If you want to femme it up make it more curly. Maybe even perm your hair before shaving the sides and then cutting it to a fun length you like. And then if you're feeling up to it, hit the town with your dope new hairstyle and mingle :)

Only if you want too. ;) More about leaving the hair long. Yeah it is awfully long now but lower shoulder blade or a little longer than shoulder length would do you good.

BTW some bada$$ tribal tats would do you good too. If I ever go 100% full time instead of 75-80% between andro and female, I am going to get a trampstamp. :embarrassed: Even kind of thinking of it now even. My SO is even kind of pushing me that way. But I don't know though. :-\

I wish I had the same definition as fun as you do!  If someone asked me to make a tutorial for them I'd probably grumble about it hahaha. (I may take you up on that offer some other time, though.  ;) Right now it's too late to learn, I think. LOL. It's 1AM here)

:P What about this cut, then?: http://www.victorhugohair.com/2327-undercut-hairstyles-for-women-with-short-hair/

I know it says "for women" and the model is also a woman, but I actually really like that cut! I may not get the bangs quite so long, but I like how she kept the short portion blonde and dyed the "fluff" red (I've always wanted to have red hair  :P ). Plus, it looks good even without "sideburns" (that's been a huge issue with picking a style, for me.. I can see a haircut and think "That looks cool!", but as soon as I mentally remove the sideburns, it's kind of awkward looking haha)

Haha I just might do that one day.  ;) But I'd probably wait after I've gained some muscle first. I'm short and scrawny, so tats might make me look like I'm over-compensating hahaha.

And oh really? o: Have you found any you really liked yet?

Yea I think that'd look great! I get the sideburn thing. I'm begging mine to grow but they're not listening.

OK!  :D Thanks for being so willing to help this n00b. Haha

Awesome!  :D I'll definitely hang on to that picture, then. I just hope I can find a good salon.. The one my Dad has been going to has messed up simply getting a couple inches trimmed off! Several times, even. So I know I won't be going to that one. LOL

And sideburns are great.  8) It's one of the things I'm looking forward to having if (hopefully when) I start taking testosterone. Though that doesn't necessarily mean they'll grow.. but still.  :P

Anywho, thanks so much for making that comment, despite me saying I don't want an undercut. If you hadn't, I wouldn't have found that cut I like! (I'm still debating it, but if I decide that I definitely want it, I might update the thread and ask for everyones opinions on how it might look on me.  :P Never hurts to have more opinions)

Probably something tribal and symmetric.

Over compensation isn't really a bad thing though. As a matter of fact I wouldn't even give a second thought to some scrawny guy with tats unless he was cute, as a matter of fact I wouldn't give a second thought to a scrawny guy period unless he was cute. This is for any guy scrawny or Schwarzenegger big. Tats or not. It's really not about the scrawniness or height or anything else with me or most even cis women as it is about attitude. I would rather date a 5'0" guy with a 10' tall attitude than a 7'6" guy with a 4'0" attitude. Does that make any sense or am I just crazy? But it is not about size as much as attitude.

I also thought something short at the sides would suit you before I read you saying that you didn't want it, so I think you should properly consider it.

I love this thread! I still don't know what to do about my hair, so a lot of inspiration here :) I also want a tattoo by Valentin Hirsch, but that's a different story.

Littleredrobin, the good thing about the super long hair is you can go shorter in stages. So you can actually try out different styles if you're uncertain or don't feel daring enough. I'd encourage you to go shorter though - you have a very androgynous face, and a shorter style would go with that very well (but I'm biased, I've never had long hair in my life ;)).

Is it something you really want, or just playing with the idea? o:

Nah it makes sense.  :P It's just a little surprising because it's not an opinion I hear very often. I usually hear even confident short and/or skinny guys get mocked for doing that sort of thing. Short guys with big trucks seem to be a really common joke when it comes to short men overcompensating (and even though it's left a dent in my own confidence, I always thought it was weird how tall guys are allowed to have, act, and do certain things, but short guys are somehow not worthy?)

Oh really? So Kam wasn't just being nice, then?  ;D Hehe thanks guys. I'm definitely closer to making a decision.

Yeah. Hair is tricky, huh?  :P To be honest it took me a good 3 hours before I decided to make this thread -- partly because I was afraid to show my face (but all these nice comments have removed that fear), but also because I was afraid that everyone would be annoyed and be like "Why can't you do it yourself?" haha

And aw, thanks!  ;D I'm right on the edge of making a decision, but I can't put my finger on what's pulling me back..

Oh I will.  ;D Although y'all might have to nag me until I'm able to get it done -- I'm good at chickening out hahaha.

I really hope I don't chicken out this time, though. For once in my life, I'd like to feel attractive, y'know? I never made any effort to work towards looking attractive, because I felt like I had to be an attractive woman -- the kind you see on TV and magazines. And for obvious reasons, I never wanted to be those women.
At the same time, though, I felt like I could never make a good looking "dude", so I thought "why bother?" and just let my hair grow super long, and never wear anything besides sweatpants and big T-shirts (updating my wardrobe will probably be my next goal  :P)
  •

adrian

Oh, I know how it feels.

I actually think you'll be very attractive once you let that guy out :). And updating the wardrobe can be a bit frustrating, but it's also a great feeling once you find some stuff that fits and feels comfortable!

Hm, now I'm motivated to do my own hair/help me make my face look less femme thread. Maybe...
