I recently installed minecraft on my Mac and played it for a little while but I just don't get it? Seemed like a giant time sink where I dig to make things. I know some people have spent countless hours building incredible worlds but I wonder if some people have too much time on their hands lol


Okay adding some additional info. I just paid to buy the full version so I am willing to give it a shot. I can't guarantee how much time I can spend on it, but I am willing to be a guinea pig

Well you can sign me up hun!  I love Minecraft to bits and I've been involved with a fair few servers myself, including moderating on the REZCraft server while I was with them, and I currently run an Attack of the B-Team modpack server for myself and a couple of friends, and I'm also a dab-hand with WorldEdit and Voxelsniper (well ok, I'm still kinda newb with Voxelsniper but I'm learning fast and it's really damn powerful lol ).  So yeh, I'd not only love to see an official "SusanCraft" server of some kind, but I'd also be willing to help out moderating and / or heading up a build team to make some beautiful landscapes (oohooh!  We should totally make the Unicorn Forrest first! ♥︎).

Actually kinda surprised there's not more support for this tbh.  Minecraft is a great place to carve out your own little sanctuary for the soul ♥︎*Hugs*♥︎

It most certainly is hun   It's also possible to have multiple worlds on one server with different game rules for each.  Most servers tend to have a spawn hub world where you first come in, which explains the rules of the server and where regular members can't build (only admins / mods of the server etc).  That world has portals that takes you to the other worlds the server has to offer.  Most servers offer at least a survival and a creative world (and typically a PvP world too).  It's not uncommon to also have setups like a public survival world for everyone and a private survival world for ViP's / members only etc. and things like that too

Personally, I too am most interested in creative mode - survival is cool and all, but going through the whole "resource gathering" bit does get a bit old when you've been playing for like, 4 or 5 years lol   I really love building things on a large scale these days, which is something that's usually fairly impractical with survival mode unless you can dedicate a lot of time and get a team together.

My WoW guild before Wod came out were paying around 70$ pm for a 64 player server.
Price varies depending on server owners, internet companies etc.
I must say though for Susan to get a master java programmer to build the world gen code you should all be excited.
