A number of threads recently dealt with hair styles. So I thought maybe we could have a thread dedicated to that where everyone can post and get tips and suggestions?

I'll start. I'm pre-t and everything, and I'm not passing, but I am trying to create a more androgynous look. I never had a classic girl's cut to begin with, and I'm not ready to get a classic men's cut either (not sure if I ever will). So I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with my hair, but I do want to avoid emphasizing my feminine facial features I suppose. Just to give you an idea, this is where I started out:

For me changing my hair ironically meant I had to start growing it out on top, while slowly going shorter on the sides. So this is where I am now (had it cut last week):

No glasses and a shifty look: http://i.imgur.com/YIuEoDJ.jpg?1

I think I should start looking for new glasses btw.

And if all fails I can still look badass with a hat: http://i.imgur.com/U6OG4bq.jpg

Dude, that pic where you're wearing the glasses? Totally reminds me of the Tenth Doctor.  :D All you need is a goofy smile.

Nice square jawline there!  You look especially dudish in the one sans glasses.  New glasses might be the perfect defining accessory.

Thanks guys. I'll work on the goofy smile - and new glasses ;). Now that'll make a great new thread:

Great jawline.  I would say that you look much more female in the hat than the other pictures.  Otherwise "androgynous" is definitely a great word to describe you.  I think your haircut is great for you.

Oh, interesting about the hat. Obviously I have a hard time seeing myself "objectively" (whatever that means) - I didn't think the hat would make such a difference. It's the glasses, I tell you [emoji12].

lol a hair thread is a good idea XD

this is what i got currently got (mind the sleepy selfy)

dunno if i should go super short since my hairs pretty thin, you can totally see my scalp when it's short. :/ but if i go longer i dunno what to do with it ahah. any suggestions would be A+

also OP you've got some great cheek bones and jaw, damn.

Maybe you should go with a shaggy style? No experience with hair here. Mine is #1 guide shaved all around except top. But just my opinion thinking shaggy would look good with your hair [emoji3]

Uhm, I do? [emoji15] Thank you!

I actually like your current hair cut. Have you tried styling it differently? Like use product to give it a more structured "shaggy" look?

If you want to go shorter, maybe an undercut type of style would work?

lol i think ill let it do it's thing and go shaggy. XD easier that way anyway.

lol i did try and undercute thing once i llooked awful XD

Adrian, I have kind of a similar hairstyle to yours. I'm currently having it very short on the sides/back and longer on top and growing that out.

BeefxCake, cheeeeesus dat jawline and those cheekbones! Totally jealous. Mine are only visible under superb lighting. Anyways, I have weird hair that is kind of thin if its very short but it's very very thick otherwise and wavy. If you don't want your scalp to show then you could try getting it pretty short but not exactly buzzed if that makes sense? If you wanna "shave" it then ask for one of the longer clipper guards so it doesn't have as short of a shave or if you feel like that's too short you can always ask your hairdresser to use scissors instead. That's an option if you'd wanna try the undercut thing again. IMO I think you'd look awesome regardless because you've got such a masculine face. *_* I want those cheekbones and that jaw!

This was me pre-T but i always go back to this haircut as i only tend to feel better about my looks when its shaved at the sides. I always wished i could pull off the shaggy look with it longer though!

Wow, J, love that cut!

Something like this is my backup plan (I'm really not sure I can get used to the longer on top thing).

That cut looks great. Don't think I can pull that off.

Thank you! I find it helps if you have a small head like myself haha gives a bit of volume. Adrian, you can go a bit shorter on top than that as long as it has the difference from the sides its essentially the same kinda haircut.
Marcellow, thanks! i reckon anyone can pull it off for sure with any face shape etc :D i could be wrong but not seen anyone it didnt suit yet

This is the look i strive for one day. How do you style it?

I have completely straight hair which is a pain cos i have to curl it back with hair-straighteners to get it to stay back so if you have curly or wavy hair, it works even better but you just blow dry upside down , curl it back if nesacery and then use Matte Seperation Wax to shape it and hold it, i use Bedhead but most brands of hair wax have a similar alternative, thats just the best ive found

I have a super small head myself (just one more thing I hate about myself, sigh).

Yeah, I might go shorter on top again. I've been letting it grow out since June or July I think - not a terribly long time when you think of it ;) My hair dresser and I decided to give it a bit longer.

Thought I'd post an updated picture. I went to get my hair cut last week and decided to go short on the sides. I get cold ears now, but I'm beginning to feel a bit less bad about my hairstyle ;).
