Kind of Jerry Springer-ish isn't this? Crime committed and punishment handed down, period. What she is now has nothing to do with what she did or deserves. Not feeling too sorry for her.

Unfortunately, stories like this are what fuels hatred of the entire trans community.  There are people who want to believe we are all like that, and articles like this reinforce that view to the willfully ignorant.  Unfortunately, like most communities, we also seem to have a 1% problem.

I know, right? What did her trans status have to do with this at all? Typical media, we are all freaks of nature, blah, blah, blah.

Her trans status should never have been mentioned at all. Criminal period!

I said it and i say this out of my heart because of this, which happened to me 2 years ago:

when that Adam Lanza guy shot up his school two years back, my teacher warned the other students about me because allegedly he had aspergers. gee thanks missus, for making a tough year tougher. anyway, did it matter? no, not at all. but it's hard not to feel hurt. one of the most popular german newspapers BILD (a shamelessly opportunist, hatemongering "newspaper") put out an article with the big page 1 headline: ice-cold, emotionless, without pity, BILD explains Aspergers syndrome. Autism rights groups backlash forced them to gave in and change at least their online version of the article.  There's an entire blog in german dedicated to showing their lies (BILDDBlog which i regularly read and shake my head).
