I know there are a few girls here who identify as Feminists, so i'm curious..every now and then i read some feminist articles and it's often said that Feminist accept transgirls and that radfems are against us and are a minority in that opinion, yet everytime i heard the words "Feminist" and "Transgender" in the news it's always about how they're treating us like crap, like for instance the Womyn Music Festival thing.
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain, I like watchin' the puddles gather rain.

Despite all my rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage

I'm a feminist ally.
Also I think that the womyn's festival is silly....I have no doubt that several early transitioners like early teens have prolly been to the festival. I have no doubt that some transwomen who have had some surgeries have also been to the festival.

So it's dumb they can't keep us all out and are clueless when a 100% passing transwoman walks in. My thoughts anyways

A feminist simply believes in equal rights for women.  A lot of men are feminists.  The vast majority of feminists are not the trans-exclusionary variety.  I dont see them as feminists as much as I see them as hateful misandrists.

I guess that doesn't include me lol but yeeh, that does make a lot of sense.

okay, makes sense and sounds good but what's with all the bad stuff always in the news? like a female college not allowing trans women to enter, the womyn festival (i agree with what Hello Kitty said but fact is they tried to stop us from entering) etc.

Many of the most militant feminists were scarred by the brutality of men. It can skew their perspective on trans issues.

There are many supportive feminists. I'm sure they're well in the majority. The news is the news - it thrives off bile and hatred because conflict sells papers or generates clicks or captures eyeballs, so I wouldn't regard anything they're getting breathless about as the full picture of anything.

Frankly, almost every time I see trans people featured in the news they're behaving badly, too. I think that's how the news works. :)

I'm a feminist, I have a lot of feminist friends, I follow some prominent feminists on social media, and they all accept trans women. (I wouldn't associate with them if they didn't.) The trans-exclusionary ones are a) loud and b) old and have a lot of experience at making themselves heard, so they get a lot of attention from a news media that favors controversy and thinks dinosaur = important, but they don't speak for more than a small minority at this point.

There's even a Seven Sisters women's college accepting trans women this year. And at the ones that didn't, the student body protested with signs and everything - it's another case of old, out of touch women in the bureaucracy making choices that younger women find horrifying in the modern age.

I'd be surprised if they didn't let you in, you look beautiful. :)
Also come to think of it there is a drug store in British Columbia (Vancouver I think) that only allows women who were born women to enter.
They have a door that locks and a video camera and they size you up before letting you enter. No joke!

I don't see why a feminist would turn a supporter of her cause away unless there is something about you that reminds her of what she is fighting against like a dude in woman's clothing to try to break down the sanctuary from the inside. This mainly comes from the women whom have a bad hustler with males and don't want that as part of their life and to link it with trans we are men becoming women but that isn't the entire feminist population as in any group there will be residence from a small %

My exact thoughts.  It's always the louder minority.  Every group has its fringe members.

I'm not really into feminism but from what I understand the TERFs have a few problems with trans women:

- They claim we don't understand reproductive rights because we don't have a uterus.
- They claim that trans women are not real women because some/most of us grew up with male privilege (which I can't seen to point to what exactly it is but I've been told it exists).
- They think that trans women aren't feminists because we embrace femininity and don't try to break free from it.

Most feminists I met are very sympathetic to transgender issues.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?
