i'm still about 6-9 months away from being able to start hormones but i figured id get started with whatever i could and ended up ordering the one touch home electrolysis.  it actually showed up a few days early, and ive been spending most of the day messing around with it.  anyways, looking for some advice on its usage if anyone has any.  i'm not jumping straight into using it on my face, when i start hormones ill be getting professional electrolysis done on my facial hair, so im sticking to leg hair for now.

few observations... some hairs, it doesnt seem to matter what direction you go in, specially around the sides/back of the legs, it just doesnt want to go in more than a millimeter.

how long to leave it in for? for most hairs im able to leave it somewhere between 8-10/10 on its setting.   unless it decides to activate and start beeping before i get it inside, then it tingles a bit.   ...  sometimes the tone doesnt go off at all? and i have to take it out and go for a different hair and come back to that one?

how to tell when its done?  ive notices when i take it out, it often has a white bubbly substance around the hair? is that normal for telling when its done its work?

Mai,
what sort of experiences do you have now with One Touch. I am considering buying one...
Anyone else, One Touch experiences?
Electrolysis should be the only way to permanent hair removal at home, I'd like to know whether this unit is worth purchasing.

i havent used it in a few months now. mostly cause im trying not to tip off my roommate that ive gone completely weird on him, couple more days and he'll be gone.

i did 350 hours over the course of 3 months. and its now been another 2-3 months since i stoped so i can see the regrowth.  and it had some effect. theres definately less hair in the area i was messing with than when i started but. still a ton of hair.  overall, it was cheap, and at the time, i had spare time.   but going back, id rather have spent the time working on other things.

honestly. the 350+ hours i spent with the one-touch (on the area i was working on)   was about the same ammount cleared permanantly as the first 5 hour profesional session i got done. (different area though so only a rough estimate).

if you have thousands of hours to kill, may as well try, but dont try on your face first as you dont want to ruin your facial skin.  id say, if you want to invest that much time, pick up a 2nd job, and use the money from the 2nd job for profesional electrolysis.  profesional will be much faster, and have a higher kill rate.

i was working on my legs when i had gotten it, and just ended up getting an epilator for my legs now.

These are cool little devices but I wouldn't think of using one to clear my face; waaay too much chance of scarring. I had 2 dozen laser sessions and about 600 hours of electrolysis to shape my eyebrows and get rid of my beard (kept my Van Dyke). The One Touch is handy for the occasional stray hair that still pops up.

It is really important that you insert the probe in the direction of hair growth to get the maximum energy to the follicle and do not damage the skin. Unless you hear the beep and feel the tingle, you don't have a good circuit and aren't doing anything. I always set the machine at hi and keep the probe inserted for 10 full seconds. The white bubbly substance is a good sign that it is working. You know you destroyed the follicle if the hair comes out without any effort, otherwise you pulled out a healthy hair and stimulated the body's protective mechanism to stimulate more hair growth in the area...
