how is everyone's out look for the fast approaching holidays. I  hang out with my computer, but I've been doing that a long time, so  I'm  cool  with that.

I cook way to much food.

Just a little earlier this year due to a busy schedule end of month.

I make a mean turkey...and it's the highlight of my thanksgiving every year.  But I just learned that we're going to my sister-in-law's and she wants to make the turkey.  Poor Katie. 

My trans support group is having "Trans-giving" and I really wish I could skip my family thanksgiving and hang out with them instead.  It would be much less stressful.

I have a quiet dinner , but I always make sure I cook every thing, turkey , stuffing , potatoes , rutabaga, cranberries, gravy and pie. I use to make my own pie, but I gave up.

What's rutabaga?

Aussies don't celebrate Thanksgiving but I'm interested in it. Especially as it involves food, drink and merriment.

And for those who can't get to family or friends for any reason, everyone is very welcome at Susan's Thanks giving celebrations.

I'm pretty sure we can organise an online feast!

My Mom, Dad and sister stopped talking to me over the last few weeks since I came out. So, I am looking to get together with a few friends. But I'm super bummed out about not being able to eat the comfort foods I'm so used to, since I don't have any of the recipes 
I'm trying to figure out how to get my Mom to just send me some of them, but I'm afraid of how that will go...

Can relate, but this year is about to change all that.  I was the one to volunteer bringing the hams for the trans support group thanksgiving dinner.  The hams will be pre-cooked so I guess I cant go too wrong, and also went and bought an 18qt roaster oven for this little adventure.  First stretching of the social legs, so I will spend extra time and really get made up, wear my black gown (underneath my leather jacket of coarse), heels, and maybe some fancy sparkly things (I'm part crow).  I think they expect the usual of about 50 or 60 people, with quite a few that I have never met from Canada and Seattle so it should be fun.  Dani

Well why not!

Lemon roast potatoes.

Take Desiree potatoes (but any will do).
Boil until slightly soft but firm, drain well until dry. Pat dry with paper towel if need be.
Add to a roasting dish with Olive oil and then cut 2 or so lemons cut in quarters, squeeze some juice over the potatoes and add the lemon pieces to the roasting dish.

Roast for 30-45 minutes at about 150C until golden.

I don't like turkey and my wife is a vegetarian but we are still cooking a decent meal. Probably a roast with assorted veggies. Just the 5 of us, probably 6 or 7 if her other two kids join us.

These days my oldest brother and his gf and her daughter come down to the coast(he has a house next to mine) and bring a big meal from Bob Evan's that they order every year, so I have dinner with them.

I don't celebrate Christmas or Thanksgiving...sort of pointless since nobody in my family has been a part of my life in decades.

Not to be a topper for strangeness, but I'm taking my children and having dinner with my ex in-laws. My ex-wife won't be there as she's having dinner with her boyfriend and his family. These are strange days we live in. Strange indeed.

We will be celebrating Christmas here yupp, but that is still quite far away, no need to plan much for that yet .

My wife and I are going to TN to spend Thanksgiving with her family. My sister-in-law and I will probably do most of the cooking as my mother in-law has been having some health issues. (They have all been fairly supportive for the most part.)

I don't think Americans even know why we eat turkey. I mean few people actually eat turkey any other time of the year. It's like we'd all prefer steak, ham, chicken, or even just no meat, but we can't stop eating turkey.
