I don't care if it's not manly, I still like...

I've never been a girly girl, but there's a few things that make me who I am and I have no plans to give up!

...bath bombs/bubble baths. Especially Lush "Lord of Misrule" bombs! Mmm.. lokilicious.
...figure skating. Haven't been in years for pretty much medical reasons, miss it like crazy. Still have my white skates.
...kids movies. Especially animated family movies. Unashamedly LOVED Tangled and Frozen.
...my super-soprano singing voice. It's been wrecked a bit after I got hit in the throat this summer and losing my upper range strength has been devastating. It might be "good practice" for when/if I start T and lose it completely, but that'd probably be one of the things I'm least looking forward to.

Anyone else want to contribute?

...to knit or crochet when I watch TV.  I'm too ADHD to sit still and do nothing but watch TV.   If I don't crochet or knit, I surf the 'net while I watch TV.

Knitting -- I taught myself a few years back to distract myself from how miserable I felt. Mostly I swear a lot, but it works anyway [emoji16]

...watching Buffy the vampire slayer tv series and chick flicks.

Kittens. I'm a sucker for little animals, especially kittens.

P.S. I once asked my girlfriend if she thought taking baths was unmanly and she told me about her ex-Marine uncle who likes to take bubble baths to relax sometimes so I think the manliness of bubble baths has been confirmed.

Watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer isn't so much girly so much is so awesome that it's for everyone, no matter your gender. Except the Buffy movie. That movie isn't for anyone. I'm quite sure it's shown to people in prison as a form of torture.

I don't use my son as an excuse to watch kids movies. Nooooo. :icon_google: I'd watch them anyway.

I'm trying to learn how to sew (still not good at it) because it is a useful skill to have especially since I like costumes and eccentric clothing that I can't buy.

Some music that may or may not be girly. I don't actually know.

I still use Dove bar soap most of the time because it makes my skin feel breathable and not tight. I also like scented lotions though I'm trying to stay away from them now lol
Lyrics for a song I wrote

This ain't a scam
It's who I am
I am a man inside
This ain't a dream
Stop being mean
And just accept it.
I am ready to shine!
Ready to fight for that dream of mine
I am a man inside

There are some cis-dudes that love to sew stuff animals. I'm kinda one of those dudes that like to craft stuff animals when I was younger.  The only thing I would consider not manly, that I do now, is just trying to make sure I look good, even if that means I have to shape my eyebrows or hide those really horrible eye bags/dark circles that won't go away under my eyes and making sure I have stylish clothes. I want to look good and presentable no matter what. Yes I use that Dove Soap and also so I kinda like some mini stuff and I really love ferrets. SO WHAT! I'm still manly. XD

kids. i know considering that as unmanly is nonsense when my own dad adores every kid he sets his eyes upon, but the way everyone has interpreted my fondness for the younger kind is not very comforting. but i can't deny that i like kids. they like me too.
We all are animals of the same species

I don't view the stuff I do as "unmanly" even if it happens to be activities that are not stereotypical male activities.  I think that threads like this, while trying to be fun and light-hearted, are only further perpetuating the stereotypes that "these activities are not man's activities" when really they are if a man is doing them.

Can't think of anything..

Except for the fact that I know how to cross-stitch (because my mom thought I should learn to several years ago, not because I wanted to learn) though I only very rarely decide to stitch something. I stitched this cute thing for my crush's graduation 3 years ago though.. didn't really help my case though haha.
I'm trying to be somebody, I'm not trying to be somebody else.

I can't really think of anything.

Except sometimes wearing pink underwear (but who cares) and the fact that I love to snuggle up to someone while watching a movie with them. I'm usually little spoon bc I'm a small dude :P.

lol That's great.

Someone once showed me a picture that was apparently trying to "insult" a kind of truck driver (chevy vs dodge maybe? I don't care) by showing gay guys have sex against it. I asked if that meant that people who drive those trucks get more sex.

Me too when it comes to cuddling while watching a movie with my boyfriend. When we're in bed though, I'm usually the big spoon which is a little awkward because he's bigger than me.

The thread could be better titled, yes. Still fun though.

Oh yeah. I forgot. I'd wear skirts if I knew I'd still get read as a guy while wearing them. I keep forgetting that skirts are seen as feminine.

I tried but didn't feel like a man and really wanted and hoped to see the definitions of "manly" change and be far more inclusive.  I tried a bunch of traditional ways to man up and it didn't work.  Being strong, a soldier, a dad, a leader, and denying my feelings didn't do jack for my manhood.  The gender role stereotypes are just that cultural baggage we have yet to unpack.  My hope continues that guys like you will help open more men to a broader range of feeling and being real.

The title certainly wasn't meant to offend... and I did try several iterations before settling on that one. The whole point for me is to remind myself that it IS still OK to unashamedly like this stuff and not drop all the things that make me who I am just because that person turned out (eventually) to be a guy.

I love purple too. Lately I've sort of "fallen back" on green & black which have the joint second place honours because I sort of threw ALL the toys out of the pram when I figured out I was trans*, and as it becomes more solidified in my mind that this is Happening, I'm trying to pick up some of the pieces before they get irretrievably left behind.

Ha, another guy here that crafts during shows. Me too. Occasionally I find a show I can actually watch, but not often. It's not a bad thing, it's being productive.

Some of my interests are stereotypically masculine (e.g. weightlifting - stupid that this is considered a "guy" thing, lifting heavy weights is a healthy activity for women too), some definitely aren't. I drink a lot of tea, including "froo-froo" herbal teas like chamomile. I like cute crap. So does a grizzly-looking older cis guy I know. He will sit and squee for hours at baby animal videos. I go on kicks of baking or cooking. I'm pretty good at cleaning because I got sick of living in a sloppy environment and never being able to find anything, so I learned cleaning/organizational skills online.

Hopefully as time goes on, more people wise up and see things are better when everybody can pursue their interests without all this arbitrary gender role crap.
It's stupid how even cis people's genders will be questioned if they're into the "wrong" things. And of course, trans people get an extra helping of that BS dished up on the plate.
