getting chat to work

I cannot get chat to work ever.

I am on a asus transformbook which uses windows 8. and when ever I try to chat I just have a black screen where the chatbox should be. I clicked the other link and it did the same thing. can some one help me figure this out?

Firefox does that at my work.  If we switch browsers (explorer) it opens Chat. Good luck!
