I want to buy Arnica but I see that there is also Arnica Montana and also D6, D30, Complex, etc.

Is there any specific one I should buy for trying to reduce chance of bruising and swelling from FFS? And in which form? Pills? How long before surgery should I start taking them?

I see that dr Spiegel also recommends DermaCirculation Formula from Neova on his web site. Did anyone use that? Was it worth the money?

Thanks

I've only heard of Arnica Montana and I had it in pill form. If i remember correctly the consumption required starting before the actual surgery. It did help with bruising and swelling i guess. :)

I started a few days before ffs.  There are a ton of different formulas and there is also bromelain for help.  I'm not too sure how well they worked.  If you have the money go ahead and do it.  Its always nice even as a placebo effect.

The best advice is ice as much as you can the first day and keep your head elevated especially early on.

I used Arnica Montana started about a week before surgery (iirc) in so-called 30x dose. It should be in dissolving tablets (lactose base) and less than $10 with shipping (would have to double check what I got for pricing). It seems to have done the job but I can't exactly do it again without the supplement to see if it was the result of something else.

I'm not sure why doctors are recommending homeopathic Arnica for FFS. Any homeopathic doctor will tell you Arnica is indicated for blunt force trauma (hopefully your plastic surgeon isn't smashing your face with a mallet.) Ledum is indicated for punctures, and Staphisagria is the plant indicated for surgical wounds. Ruta is indicated for sprains.

The number after the name (eg 30C) is called the potency, or how many times it's been succussed and diluted. The letter is the roman numeral for the dilution ratio. So 30C = succussed and diluted 1:100 30 times.

Higher potency is better for mental symptoms; lower potency for symptoms at the more physical side of the scale.
