Harper, that's incredible that Kaiser would help you out with your TS medical stuff.  In 1998, I had to leave the Kaiser in Hollywood, CA in order to get my required mones and psych papers.  I'm glad you're having far better luck and help.

Don't understand your problems with Kaiser Teri and Mellisa.  Kaiser is my employer since 2001 and as soon as my insurance went into effect I telephoned the psych department and asked for a transsexual therapyst, I ended up with one who had worked with me on it at the end of the 60's.  An apointment was scheduled and a couple of months later he sent me to the Redwood city specialist for confirmation of his openion  and I was scripted for hormones.   Later after a stroke, some time in the hospital etc.. that was labled as possibly having been caused by estrogen, they even paid for orchiectomy to reduce my estrogens needs and kept me going on it, even though a genetic woman with the same stroke would not have been aloowed to use them.

There is no problem whatsoever with Transgender therapy at Kaizer, none at all.  Right now there is an issue about paying for SRS also, but there has been no top confirmation yet of when or where, But my own MD is one of kaisers Administrative Doctors and one of my Psychiatrists is Chief of Psychiatry in Redwood City and chairperson of the Board of Psychiatry for the Entire Bay area, so I'm sure I will hear about it as soon as they are ready to say something.

oh I understand the situation you are in Melissa, Just didn't want anyone to get any bad ideas about Kaiser.  I can't and won't go into it all, but it's almost unbelievable how they have been for me, as am employee and medically.  Kaiser has been one of the most positive turning points in my life and I just like to share that experience and suggest that anyone applying for private insurance or can find it with a company that uses them it works well for transsexuals who want a highly professional approach to the situation..
