Fellow spectacle wearers - How did you transition to more feminine glasses? Mine were from the men's side but they don't look too too bad on my face. I was thinking of getting contacts or surgery though. But I might want more femme glasses in the meantime.

I went to the eye doctor in girl mode wearing my contacts and tried on different frames until I found one that I liked.

I switched to contacts last year because I started training martial arts, and after a few months I got tired of being tossed around while wearing glasses. But I also needed new glasses, since I need them as backup, especially during summer when my allergies may spike.

At the time, I already looked fairly androgynous, so I just told the optometrician I wanted glasses from the women's section, but preferably more towards the androgynous side. After trying on glasses for hours without finding an androgynous pair that fit me well, I gave up and bought a pair of very feminine glasses instead. I love them, and sometimes wear them even when I could have worn contacts.

I say find a pair of glasses that you like, and buy them. If you're in a situation where wearing more feminine glasses will bring unwanted attention, you can always fall back on the other ones. Or wear contacts. I love them, especially the ones that you can sleep with - I put them on and leave them there for a week, then switch to glasses for a day (or more, depending on training schedule), and then put on new ones.

Fellow spectacle wearers - How did you transition to more feminine glasses?

I started wearing "coke bottle" glasses at age 5 and they were never pretty.  When I was 19 and just starting transition I had squirreled away enough $$ to get contact lenses and it changed my life! I also had only girl glasses from then on, although I hardly ever wore them thanks to the contacts.   Fast forward 41 years to last spring when I had high tech lens implants installed following cataract removal surgery in both eyes and now I don't need glasses at all.

More and more I am thinking I will just switch to contacts. We are switching insurance effective beginning of 2015 for vision so I'm eligible for a new contacts test and contacts.

I went to a bricks and mortar opticians who happened to be doing a deal on eye tests. After getting my new prescription from them, I went on-line and ordered a number of ladies frames to try through their home trial service. Once I found the ones I liked, I placed an order for them to be made up.

Heck yeh!!! I love my glasses and have helped me b me. Fusia and cute! Had a woman tell me to lose the glasses as i look like a girl early on ....i wanted to wear in my sleep. Lol

Not sure what the problem is, I just went the the female range and tried frames until I found a pair I liked. Opticians are merchants, they will sell whatever you want, you just ask.

Well at this point I'm pretty much out to a lot of people even though they don't tell me to my face but people tend to "sir" me after I talk but I sometimes get "ma'am" or a genderless "hon" if I don't say anything. So I might as well just get a feminine frame. But I am going to get contacts because I like the glasses less look.
