Hey guys. here is my latest video talking about My name choice and prefered pronouns.
I am interested - How did you choose a name? Mine was "given" to me. How did you handle switching pronouns?
Have an awesome day, folks!

Well, my big desire was to keep my initials for my first and middle name the same.  After looking at names that started with M with my partner at the time, we settled on Maxwell with me going by Max in day to day life. It fits and I love it. My middle name is my great grandfather's first name. I wasn't keen on the male first name my parents had chosen for me, but I figured I could offer some appeasement with the middle name they had lined up.

With pronouns, I made the request for he/him/his when I came out to everyone as trans and told them my male name. I made it clear that I understood that these would be more difficult, but that it was something I wanted everyone to work on.

(Off topic: DUDE HOW BIG ARE YOUR BICEPS? Measure them, I want to compare :) )

Awesome. Thanks for replying! (I don't get many replies and I look every day :( )
Thanks for the comment on my biceps. At the thickest point the right one is 13 inches around, which is about an inch less then my neck. However, my arms only really look that big because of the annoying female tricep fat that I've got going on. I mean, they're big, but not as badass as they sometimes seem. I really, really hope that re-distributes with the T!

My chosen name actually comes from one of those first-clue moments from when I was a kid - a (female) friend had it as a middle name and I remember being insanely jealous of her "boy-name".

Don't know if it's going to stick yet or not, since I'm waiting til I see my parents in the new year and can have a conversation with them and see if there's a name they would have given me, even if I only add it as a middle name it feels important to at least invite them into that decision. Whether or not they decide they want to be a part of it remains to be seen but I hope they will.

(Also my dad has always called me bear because I used to growl a lot as a baby instead of really babbling or baby-talking, so we sort of share a nickname for completely different reasons!)

I was given my name by a really cool lady here. Well, actually, she suggested Victor Robert, but my original first name was Robyn which is a nickname for Robert, so I changed my name to Victor Robyn. I like Victor because it literally means I win. That and I share the name of Drs. Doom and Frankenstein.

Hey Bear,

Wow man, you transitioned only this year? I fully was expecting you to be years into transition! (please take that as a compliment...) I noticed your biceps too and even if they don't get a lot of re-distribution on T they look pretty badass! Wish I could look like that, but I'm a stick!

Like ftmax, I wanted to keep my initials, L.T., since I like the way they sound and it's a bit easier for the signature deal. I have chosen Lorenz Theodor to replace Lori Theresa when/if I am ready to transition Lorenz, because it's on my family tree and is a male derivative of my name, which I do like (plus, people can get away with the female name as a nick name) somewhere and Theodor for the meaning (Loved by God). They are both German spellings and pronunciations to honour my family background too. I am considering adding a third name David, to remember my brother who died almost 4 years ago (my younger niece was born only 2 months after he passed so her middle name is also David).

I picked my first name, Tobias, because it's a name I've been always fond of. When I first heard it in a book I read (Animorphs for those interested), I knew it was the name for me. My middle name is Killian. It evolved as a joke (DW has a crush with an actor sharing the same name) but I've grown to like it. They both flow and have legitimate origins, which were both important factors to me. I'm still trying to get a grasp on pronouns but I always feel awkward correcting people in my obviously feminine voice and/or when not in my standard guy gear.
Yours truly,

Tobias.

It was really important for me to have a name which translated well in Farsi and in English. I don't look very Middle Eastern, but my heritage was always an important part of my upbringing and my sense of self. I wanted my new name to reflect that in the same way my birth name had. Unlike a lot of folks, though, I didn't really think about preserving my initials. Instead, I tried to preserve overall sound/mouthfeel. My chosen name actually sounds kind of girly because of it, as my middle name -- which I go by on the day-to-day and which I like -- ends in ''a.''

But while my full name, Cameron Nima, is kind of feminine to American ears, both names are 100% boy to Iranians. Since I do id as nb, I think of it as a bit of a perk. As for EXACTLY how I picked my name... I was drunk. I make most of my gender decisions while three sheets, if I'm honest.  :icon_redface:

ALSO, Bear, you're my upper body inspo rn. Very nice.

Wow, thanks! Yeah, just over two weeks on T. I've pretty much always been as masculine as possible though, so nobody was surprised when I came out. except my parents but whatever. As for my arms, I attribute them to my martial arts habit. I really, really hope the combination of the T and the training drive that tricep flab out!

Oh yeah, MA will drive the fat away in droves! I'd be up to my ears in it myself if not for a severe pain issue. (From a fellow Martial Artist, you know it's *serious* when it takes you out of training and EVERYTHING else!)

Totally best of luck and I will want DEETS of how your training changes as you get further along on T!

I got my name from behindthename.com. I like to look up names for my characters I write about. At the time, my male name had been Todd cuz I like foxes...but I found that Blaine seemed to fit me better. Blaine means thin and even though I'm far from thin, I felt a connection to the name that I didn't feel with Todd.

I haven't decided my middle name yet. I was thinking about either Kadin or Lee. Lee was my grandpa's middle name and I felt I should honor him somehow since he passed away 5 years ago. I will most likely go with Lee but I like Kadin as well.

And just accept it.

I looked on baby name websites and the like. They didn't really help me as I didn't resonate with any of the names. However, on my internship I liked one of the street names, which became my first name. The middle name is what I always called my self online and in video games. I probably should have realized the initials were TDS, but it is a step up from ERS. My parents wanted me to take the name Edwin as both of my grandfathers are named Ed. I decided not to as I don't like E names as they remind me of my original name.

Hey just an afterthought: I haven't wanted to post every video I do here, so I started a youtube channel. The name is BareTheBear and I'm trying to post once a week. That would be a good way of keeping up with my bicep growth, etc...
Thanks either way.

I thought of a name once, but scratched it. At the moment I identify with no name. Though I do have one in mind.

Blaine Lee flows nicely off the tongue, imo. :)

You think? Well, Blaine Kadin does sound a bit choppy lol. I do like Blaine Lee better :)

Not Kadin,
Or Bruce,
Naturally!

I'm not totally sure that when I legally change my name I'll stick to Sam, but I picked it because my mom told me when I was younger that if I had been a boy she would have named me Samuel (and she considered Samantha but went with Elsa instead (yes, like frozen.)) I badgered her from that moment on "omg why couldn't you have named me samantha" because then I could have gone by sam!
So I'll probably go with Samuel but I've also considered Elliot, Elijah or Ezra because they remind me of my given name. I'm not hugely fond of Ezra but it starts with an E and has four letters, ends an A... yeah just reminds me of Elsa a lot. but I like Elliot because it's a great name and starts with "elle" like Elsa. so. it's up in the air right now. I'm kind of waiting on support from friends and family with this whole process then I plan on seeing if anyone has any preferences.
