Warning: Sickening question...

I have a serious but an utterly disgusting question about something in the genital area and I think this is the best? place for me to ask.  I am sorry if it sounds sickening but I am getting anxiety that are even giving me panic attack symptoms if I were to look information by searching online since I am almost positive it will lead to something else about the female anatomy.
So:

A couple of days ago I noticed jello like, whitish/transparent sticky formed mucus that are almost the size of my thumb nail....I am sorry it offends me just typing this but I can't express myself elsewhere. I would ask my doctor but I am not able to reach them directly at this time.  Also, please ONLY tell me what they are and why it's happening & not additional information if possible as I am literally sickened by the entire thing

I am just guessing but is it because I've been off the birth control pills (no T either ) that I've been taking for a couple of years but it has been more than 2 weeks that I stopped that and I am just noticing this happening recently.

It sounds like the kind of mucus that often passes when one is ovulating. Google "cervical mucus" and you will be able to find info and images.

Has it been about 2 weeks since your last period?  Ovulation could then be a good explanation.

I would bet money that this is exactly what it is. We don't notice it every time, but it's 100% normal. It is just something all our bodies make. I'm sorry it's freaking you out, OP, but try to rest easy!

Not to be too gross, but if you're having any itching, burning, or pain with urination, or if you notice strong ammonia-like or fish-like odor, you should definitely talk to your doc. Otherwise I'm fairly certain you're a-ok.

If it's really thick, there could also be some disintegrated toilet paper in it. Which is also not really something to worry about.

Overall, discharge is just normal stuff, not anything to be worried about.

And yeah, if you have previously taken birth control or anything that prevents ovulation, it's totally possible that you're just not used to experiencing any of the things that o along with that part of the cycle.

Sorry you are dealing with distress over this. I totally understand.

I think it sounds like it could be the cervical mucus but I don't remember ever having something like this when I was getting periods (during puberty and + more years)

I actually do have itching down there almost always (especially after shower) and I do remember having pain when urinating in the past but not at this time.

If you have itching after showing then it is very likely that you are either applying soap directly to the area or using an excessive amount of soap elsewhere and it is rinsing down. Genital tissue on and between the labia is very sensitive and soaps will cause irritation and microscopic tears which can then be painful or itchy. The area produces discharge because it is self-cleaning. Try not to use soap between your legs and just rinse very, very thoroughly with water and this will very likely solve the itching problem.

It's perfectly normal, unless it smells very foul or is causing you pain or any other unusual symptoms. it could just be a response to the changes in hormones.

Having had almost 40 years of menstrual cycles, I can tell you that it changes over the life course. Don't be alarmed, unless - as others suggest - you experience a foul odor, blood in the discharge, etc. And even then, some degree of either can be normal.

if you're itching, maybe you aren't wiping throughly? it could also be a yeast infection? they have monostat at drug stores that will alleviate the symptoms in one day

if it smells foul, is lumpy in some way, itchy and generally uncomfortable and whitish yellow in colour, theres a possibility it could actually be thrush. I suggest try to see your doctor about it soon as they would be the best to help. there are medicines over the counter you can get for those and they're not too expensive. but usually a trademark of thrush is the discharge will usually look a bit like cottage cheese. It will also smell very bad

It also could be smegma, a natural white lubricant (of dead skin cells) that often forms in the folds of the labias.
