My mom commented on my complexion today.  It has always been really good, especially when i was a teenager.  Smooth, good color, barely had any acne... my skin has always been really good. It got me wondering if this is a common thing?

Have you always had a good complexion?
For guys on hormones, has your complexion changed at all?

i always had good complexion, but T has changed that significantly.  My skin is now extremely oily, my pores have enlarged, and shaving has made my skin feel rougher.  I have facial and body acne, that is T induced. The first year on T was pretty bad in that sense that i even was put on an anti-biotic to deal with the body acne.  I'm told that after a few years on T the acne will eventually end- to be honest it cant come soon enough for me.  I use an prescribed anti-bacterial wash to deal with the acne, which keeps it under control, but i noticed a few days prior to my shot the acne comes full force.  All is all, even with the acne problem, i have to say i am pleased with the progress of my transition and just try to accept the changes as they occur.

cheers.

I always had a good complexion. T made it oilier and for the first year, I had to use acne face wash to avoid getting zits. I was pretty lucky as far as that goes - had the odd one, but nothing major as long as I kept on top of it.

My skin is definitely rougher now and will probably continue to get rough.

Complexion, mine has always been good, before and after hormones. As a matter of fact this is my 200th post and if I do say so myself I don't look a post over 150. Men want to touch my skin, women want to have my skin and birds sing when ever I walk by.

My complexion has been good even though teenage life. I do drink about a gallon of water a day though so that might be it. Also I haven't started T so I am hoping when I do that I wont have a massive outbreak!

Thats what I worry about when I state T is breaking out. My face already is oily but in good shape only because I wash it 3 times a day.   ::) :-\

i was wondering if maybe there is some truth to the fact that the trans community has better skin than others.  Something about hormone levels before transition?  Just a thought.

I use Differin face gel.  For the first couple of weeks your skin will feel very very dry but after a month or so, your skin will be absolutely flawless. However, I am not on T yet.

Talk to your dermatologist about Differin if your skin goes whack-o, really helped for me :)

yeah, my skin has started breaking out a little.  i have never had any problems, even thru the first puberty (i am about 5 mos on t) and i recently jumped up to 75 and now 100 a week, and my skin got even worse.  but i have to say its not actually horrible.  just a few pimples, and they are on my upper body sometimes.  I will get maybe up to 6 zits on my face.  Its hard, but its okay.  Its better when I stay away from fried food and sugar and drink lots of water and also SWEAT. cardio is good.

Alright, for people who have skin problems, here's a trick.

Buy Talc Powder
Yes, that's the white powder that's often used on baby's (like Zwitsal brand). Before you go to bed make sure you wash your face, and whatever bodyparts are oily/acne areas (shoulders, back etc). Then put on the talc powder. Yes, you will look like a ghost, but you'll be sleeping so who cares right?
It really does help with complexion issues and is a lot cheaper.

Try it out. ;)

I'm not an FTM, but I've always had a good complexion and had very few pimples in my life.  It only improved after going on estrogen.  I just thought I would offer my input from being on the other side of things.  Maybe it has an effect on both FtMs and MtFs.
