singing along in a high voice to the Hunchentoot tracks from Sleep Dirt (vocal melodies from memory with online lyric sheet) (yes, the restored instrument mix on the 2012 cd).

my voice sounds a bit allergy-ravaged.

"Flambay" works in both a low lounge singer voice and aforementioned impression.

Ok, at the cost of being mushy and emotional... this video and song really inspires me, and picks me up when I'm feeling down...

...and it feels like me, on a good day.... :)

Slayer- "Chasing Death"

It's a new track they haven't released yet.  It's about their former guitar tech, Armand Crump, who was a friend of mine that OD'd in 2012.

Sadly, I can't even count my friends that I've lost to opiates on my fingers anymore.

If you do heroin, get the hell off of it before it kills you.  I'm serious, people.  It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when".  If you have stopped using (yay!), you must stay off of it forever.  The reason I say this is that half of my friends that OD'd were former users that started again who forgot that you can't go back to the dose you used to take, because your body can't handle it.

I've been off heroin since Dec. 12, 19<ahem>... but let's say over 20 years. I can say that the desire for it never goes away, but it does get easier to say no.

But this is a music thread.... and here's Eivør Pálsdóttir, who is also an inspiration:

Sorry to hear this. Where I live (Ocean County, NJ) is currently having a heroin epidemic right now. Actually a few weeks ago at my work (a library) we had someone OD on it. They revived him, but still scary stuff. I know a few people that I graduated with who are now dead from this stuff.
