Just because you spend a lot of time with someone doesnt mean you know their darkest secrets

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

just finished listening to the audience recording of Neil Young's legendary impromptu gig at The Bottom Line, including lots of one-time-only or rare performances of songs.

Now i'm listening to a 1999 acoustic gig (1999 04 25 Oakland to be exact) and the stripped-down unplugged Cortez is haunting to say the least. The lamenting voice, the lonesome guitar, the harp breaks bouncing off the theater walls,
it all creates a unique mood. Turn down the lights, light a few candles, lay down, crank up the stereo and dream of a time gone by. Not a happy time, but a fascinating time, as old Neil takes you on a journey. And right thereafter sings of "aurora borealis", the icy sky at night, of massacred buffalos, taxis and babies, as he wishes to sleep with Pocahontas, just to find out how she felt (get your mind out of the gutter) and sit by the fire.

the new Rolling Stones archive release.

The TV gig at the Marquee Club in 1971 that was cut short (although still relatively normal length) when Keith nodded off after "Brown Sugar". The group is tight, Mick actually makes an effort to sing, the setlist is nice.
It's a DVD+CD set. They both include the same alternate takes as a bonus and the DVD also includes the Top Of The Pops clip of "Brown Sugar". The quality is excellent and there's a fantastic booklet. I like it so far. Listening to it now.

singing along to my favorite Neil Young song

great lyrics which i've memorized

Back in the old folky days
The air was magic when we played.
The riverboat was rockin' in the rain
Midnight was the time for the raid.

Oh, Isabela, proud Isabela,
They tore you down and plowed you under.
You're only real with your make-up on
How could I see you and stay too long?

All along the Navajo Trail,
Burn-outs stub their toes on garbage pails.
Waitresses are cryin' in the rain
Will their boyfriends pass this way again?

Oh, Mother Goose, she's on the skids
Sure ain't happy, neither are the kids.
She needs someone that she can scream at
And I'm such a heel for makin' her feel so bad.

I guess I'll call it sickness gone
It's hard to say the meaning of this song.
An ambulance can only go so fast
It's easy to get buried in the past
When you try to make a good thing last.

I saw today in the entertainment section
There's room at the top for private detection.
To Mom and Dad this just doesn't matter,
But it's either that or pay off the kidnapper.

So all you critics sit alone
You're no better than me for what you've shown.
With your stomach pump and your hook and ladder dreams
We could get together for some scenes.

I never knew a man could tell so many lies
He had a different story for every set of eyes.
How can he remember who he's talkin' to?
'Cause I know it ain't me, and I hope it isn't you.

Well, I'm up in T.O. keepin' jive alive,
And out on the corner it's half past five.
But the subways are empty
And so are the cafes.

Except for the Farmer's Market
And I still can hear him say:
You're all just pissin' in the wind
You don't know it but you are.

And there ain't nothin' like a friend
Who can tell you you're just pissin' in the wind.

I never knew a man could tell so many lies
He had a different story for every set of eyes
How can he remember who he's talking to?
Cause I know it ain't me, and hope it isn't you.

"I created a monster inside of me
He's closing in, but I just keep running
I know my will is stronger than I wanna see
It pulls me up if I just keep moving
If I can't escape from the creature he'll eat me alive."

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." - Alan Watts

Taylor Swift - Bad Blood - is on repeat in my head after watching the music video a few hours ago. If it doesn't stop soon, I'll have to start humming lamb-chop's This Is The Song That Never Ends to drown it out.

The last one out of Liberty City, burn it to the ground!

I'm in a steppy mood today, and a little political after reading my FB feed...

I just love this song.  ;D

"Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosion

And all those things I didn't say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time?

This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me"

restoring a needledrop i made last year of one of my favorite records of all time, which sadly was not a hit with the fans or (as with most of this guy's records) the critics. The recent remaster has made people reappraise this album though. I don't know whether the old cd was that bad, as i never had the old disc, but all i know is that it was really bad sounding. Muffled, processed, drenched in artificial reverb. My record is dry as bones, clear as a bell and natural-sounding.
