I recently was going over my insurance (medical) and one of the questions they asked was do i want to put being transgender as a medical issue. If this is a bad question i apologize but i got no one else to ask. so my question is this. should i put it under med issues? thanks

Who is the carrier (Humana, UHC, Aetna? etc) and what type of insurance provider? Is it through your employer, health marketplace or other?

I would like to know because I am keeping tabs on transgender and insurance carriers and how it is being handled from sign-up to actual claim processing and the cpt coding.

In answer to your question, I've not yet seen the transgender descriptor in the state of Georgia, so the only advice I could give you is to call the carrier directly and ask them how it would affect claim processing. I would guess that it would facilitate insurance claims which are sex specific (let's say your injured that male anatomy part of you, and you registered as female; then it would be logical to process the claim accordingly).
