so, while i was going through our seasonal section at work, i was noticing a bunch of makeup kits we had gotten in. 10$ collections.  like. 10$ for a assortment of nail polishes, or an assortment of colors of various things... i dont know much about makeup but was going to start learning.   i know they are prolly really low quality intended for childeren/teens. but would they be worth getting for practice? or dont bother with them?

Depends on if you plan to go out in public or not. Generally speaking, I prefer fewer, higher quality items that match my skin. You also won't likely get a lot of real good practice out of it since makeup is primarily a blending art. You can get reasonably priced starter kits from Sephora or Ulta and you'll be better off for it. Or try Target or Drugstore.com for even more budget friendly options.

hmmm, any suggestions on a good makeup starter kit then?  that would have a bit of everything to use to start experimenting with.
ive only recently started looking at makeup.  the only experience id had with it prior was my ex using makeup on me. so i dont know what would be good brands or what is considered a decent price, etc.

how are the starter kits by E.L.F. ?  they seem to have some pretty decently sized starter kits for 50 or 150$ usd that seem to have alot in them.

I can't give you any brand names, but from experience I can say the low priced ones can be a get-what-you-pay-for situation. Low quality stuff can be completely useless so you're better off not wasting money on them to begin with. I think you're probably better off buying something small and higher quality that might be worth having. I think the best advice for a beginner in makeup is not to buy the whole thing and try to to do it all at once. Instead, pick up one at a time and learn to use it really well before gooping on something else.

As for brands and things, you can learn a huge amount about what's good or not in cosmetics from the fashion vloggers on YouTube. I regularly watch Leighannsays, Pixiwoo, Grav3yardgirl, laurenbeautyy, zoella280390, and Thecherrydollface. Watch a few of those lady's vids and you'll be up on everything that's good and not in cosmetics.

Depending on your comfort level, I suggest you visit a MAC store and get some advice. I did that with a female CIS friend and they are completely accommodating and wouldn't make you feel not comfortable. I purchased a concealer, foundation, powder and blush. Learned make up by watching Youtube gurus like Jacklyn Hill, Nicole Guerrero, Wayne Goss, ItsJudystime, Pixiwoo and Lisa Elridge.

Save your money and get something with better quality :) it really helps in passing.
