Little bumps :(

So, after accepting this new found me I procceded to shave pretty much all of my body except my lower legs (I can't keep them covered constantly and my family are very intrusive and ask a lot of questions). And I can't reach my own back.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to discuss this but on my pubic area and inner thighs, 2 days later I've got red bumps all over, I've read they're ingrown hairs and that I'm supposed to use more cream or something when shaving? But they hurt a decent amount and their's a lot of them.

Also when I shaved my stomach and chest, even though it felt smooth I could still see black spots underneath the skin where my hair is.

Any tips ^^?

Red bumps and itchiness are normal after shaving an area you normally don't shave on a regular basis.  For me, keeping up with shaving every 2-3 days and using an electric razor eliminated 98% of skin irritation on my legs and pubic reason.

Don't know if this is a stupid question but did you exfoliate before shaving? Not doing it might cause something similar.

I was told by the esthetician, who waxed me, to use 'witch hazel' to reduce irritation and inflammation. It works for me! I got it from my local market. I also got those irritating bumps after shaving in spots that no razor had seen before!

I don't even know how to exfoliate :< i don't even know what that means. I hate being bad at this. So the general advice is to shave more often? I tried shaving over my pubic area tonight where their's a bunch of spots and some of them started bleeding, it scared me and I stopped.

If the pimples starts bleeding, stop shaving. Shaving frequency doesn't change anything for me but if I let my hairs grow longer (like a month, which is just fine in the winter) it's more work. I use an electric shaver. Where I'm located they cost around 30 euros.

And hey, don't put yourself down! Nobody taught you this, how are you supposed to know? I had the fortune of having my ex teach me.

Look for pictures of an exfoliating sponge and you'll know what I'm talking about. Rub the areas you're going to shave with one of those in the shower, dry yourself with a towel, shave, and wash the excess hairs away (I don't know if you need to but might help you feel cleaner). I don't know anything about witch hazel so can't tell if it works.

And wait for the red pimples to go away before you go for your next shave!

I've had this happen before in the public hair section but it was because I was shaving up instead of down, because shaving up makes it waaaaaaaaay much smoother..... so I started to shave down first, then switched to up when most of the hair was shaven to give it the smooth feel...I started off in that particular region using depilatory cream and switched to shaving when I got tired of paying for it - I didn't have any issues with using it and it was really smooth (if you use this method, make sure to test on a small area such as your legs to make sure you don't break out) and yes, you'll get a few cuts on you now and then, it happens... and shave I guess is dependent on hair growth... if it grows quickly you'll want to shave more....I only shave once a week, by time my stubs become noticeable, it's usually been a week

 🙁 Yeah I've got it now, I haven't been keeping up with it, n now I've had to lie to this guy that was gonna come round for a little fun, it really really sucks especially in such a case.
But I can vouch for that, if you keep it up It doesn't really happen.
My tips are 1. use a body moisturizer regularly (on days you don't shave)
2. Clean the place you've shaved and cut to prevent any irrigation from a mild infection.
3. Use talcum powder on the area you've shaved.

I've had trouble exfoliating myself until now. It means removing the dead outmost layer of skin. My sister recommended I get sugar scrub from bath and body works. Its sugar and oils. Grab a little bit and rub it on the areas you wish to work on. The scrubbing of the sugar feels amazing. It leaves the skin smooth and it smells wonder too. I got one of the sleep scents which has lavender. I absolutely love it. I can see a huge difference just after 3 days of use. Apparently not everyone needs to use it everyday, but for now I am. I think once I get the results I want, I'll back off to every other day and maybe even once a week.

Exfoliate, exfoliate and exfoliate some more!  Like everyone else is saying 🙂 Definitely invest in a good exfoliating scrubbing sponge!

Failing that, pluck every hair out instead.

Currently dealing with some nasty bumps on my chest from when I shaved in a rush.  It's frustrating, as is the fact that shaving seems to not last long *at all*.  A day, tops, and then you can't shave for a couple of days after because the hair isn't long enough (but still noticeable!). 

Honestly I'm probably thinking for all over hair removal shaving is properly not such a good solution.  I don't know how people manage to keep up with it & have good results.. ? I'm going to start waxing and epilating instead.  Maybe it's just me but the rate my body hair grows is absurdly quick.  I did an experiment on my pubic hair, shaved one side and plucked (literally.. every hair.. ) the other.  Over a week later the plucked side is still lovely and smooth, but I've had to shave the other side several times.
