So my best friend's birthday is today, and as it's closeish to Christmas we've established a tradition that involves me doing a big roast for her (it's a bit of an awkward tradition with my tiny student kitchen, but that encourages creativity!).

This year, I'm doing gammon, chicken, lamb, lots of veg and chickpeas. I'm gonna experiment a bit with flavours... not quite sure what yet but I have lots of herbs and other bits and bobs lying around so I'm sure I can come up with something!

As students, we rarely eat meat and our oven needs us to press a button every 15 minutes to keep it on so a roast like this is a very special meal!

I was wondering what foods you enjoy making for special occasions, especially around this time of year! And anyone got any favourite flavour combos for meat or veg?

Frances :)
