Mackan

I recently had metaoidplasty (Im gonna refer to it as meta) on 9th of December.

I don't have a blog or anything of that sort but I do want to share my experience somehow with those interested. So I decided to do that here. And maybe keep this post as a sort of journal on my recovery and so on. I may use words as "vagina" and other words of the sort in my post, I don't mean to offend anyone it's simply to clearify what I mean for information puposes.

First of im going to tell which sort of meta surgery I had, I had a vaginectomy, scrotoplasty and uretheral lenghtening, My surgeon used tissue from the vagina to lenghten my urethra and the labia minora to support the new urethra and make my penis thicker. I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago so there wasn't any need for that. In 6 months I'll get testicular implants and a mons resection, my surgeon said it would be better for my results and my recovery if I did that in an additional surgery 6 months after the origional one since there's a great change I may have a fistula or some other problem that needs correction so he can fix that while also putting my implants in and giving me a mons resection.

I've been in the hospital 1 week now and recovery has been hard. I will be going home today or tomorrow, Im going to meet with the surgeon today and we will discuss when I will be going home.

As far as results so far im very happy with how it looks, the first couple of days I was so swollen down there I couldn't tell what was what but since yesterday the swelling went down and I can now tell what's my scrotum , where my "vagina" used to be and where my penis beings and ends. I haven't been able to measure my penis properly but when I get home I will, but if I'd give an estimate I'd say it's around 6 cm flaccid. But like I said that's just an estimate..

English isn't my first language so I might not be fimiliar with all medical terms but I'll try my best and I hope my grammar has been understandable, feel free to ask my anything I'd be happy to share my experince.

Sincerely

/Marcus

hi Makan, your initial recovery sounded good.  How are you doing now about a month later?  You will need 15 posts before you an pm.

At first I had A small infection because I had to keep the catheter in for 3 weeks, but the doctor said that's normal for youre body to get irritated by that. The First 3 weeks at home was really a pain in the *** to be honest. Recovery was hard and I had trouble walking because the catheter was pulling and I got a stinging feeling in my urethra everytime I was walking around, similar to the kind of feeling you get when you have a bladder infection and have to pee, but I tried to get up and about. After about 1.5 weeks at home I all of a sudden started to get really heavy bleeding from my urethra. I called the doctor and the told me to lay still and put a pillow under my butt to keep myself up so it might heal on its own. It didn't so I went to the doctor and the prescribed me some blood clotting type of medicine and after about 3 days on that I didn't bleed anymore.

But as soon as they pulled the catheter out all of that was fine and I had no issues with walking or bleeding anymore, the Doctor told me that there was no guarantee I was going to be able to pee on my own , and if I couldnt I had to go back to the hospital and get a new one put in. So I went home and didn't pee all day because I was to nervous to, and also I was afraid it might hurt or sting, and there was ofcourse the possibility I had a fistula. But at night I couldn't hold it anymore, so I went and it worked just fine. No pain and the pee was coming out just like it should, after that recovery has been great, each day im more and more mobile and today I can move around like normal.

I find it hard to sit and pee though, I can do it but it takes longer than if I would stand up, when I sit it more pours out rather than coming out in a stream. But when I stand up it's a steady stream. The only thing that makes ut hard to stand up is that 5 times out of 10 id make a mess, it's gonna take some practice but at least I know I will be able to do it in the future.

I still wear compressors in my boxers since the skin where the "vagina" use to be has some bleeding from that scar tissue, but it's not even a spoon full each day. I have bought some oil at the pharmacy that is suppose to help with softening up scar tissue and I have been applying that everyday for a couple of days now, that have made my penis come out further from my body and become bigger and the foreskin to pull back and not be so hard like it was before due to the scarring. It had also made my scrotum softer and I can tell some stitches are fading away from the middle of my scrotum. Im really happy with my results so far.

Mackan, thanks for the infor on your good recovery.  Catheters can be a real problem some times and you had yours so long no wonder you got an inflection from it.  I have often wonder how it is to pee standing when you have an actual penis and can direct the stream.  I can also see that it will take some practice since you are still healing along with everything being new standing holding your penis and the new feeling you will have.  Must be great to look down and see a real penis and then not having that hole any more.  I still get my monthly so know I have those internal parts  yet.  That oil you are using must be magic for the way it is improving everything down there.  wish you the best and keep us informed on how you are doing.

Sounds very interesting, to do the process in reverse of what we MtF's do...hope you don't mind if I follow your healing progress?

Writing one's name in the snow (in cursive!) is quite fun.  :)

Sounds like all came out well apart from the problems but lest it not long term, I'm looking forward to able to stp without any packer. Also how long did you have to stay in hospital for? Where did you get this done?

I was suppose to leave the hospital after 1 week, But I live in Stockholm and I got the surgery done in Göteborg, so it's about 3.5 hours for me to get home if I take a fast train (one of them trains that takes you across country) So I ended up staying longer (1.5 weeks)  , first beacuse I could hardly walk so I wasn't sure I would make it on my own once I got home, and second beacuse I was scared, it was nice to have all the nurses available just in case even though I didn't always need them.

Yeah not having the hole part is actually the best for some reason, cus that part of me I was most dysphoric about out of everything. I don't know if it's the oil or if it's just me recovering that does it (swelling going down etc) I like to think I made a good buy thou since the oil was expensive (30 $)  :P

Thank u for the kind words I will really try and keep this updated  :)

Beth Andrea, I guess it take a cis guy to come up with "Writing one's name in the snow ", I would never have considered that.  I was playing with boys all the time until high school and never saw or heard them talk about that, thou we only got a few inches of snow a winter.  I heard and learned a lot from the boys growing up but they never peed around me always went in the tall grass and woods near where we played.

So today I had an appointment with my surgeon to follow up on my progress. He mostly wanted to know about how I'm urinating, where the stream comes from and so on. So alot of questions about that, I do have a fistula next to the "exit" of my penis so when I stand up to pee it comes out both ways now. It hasn't been like that always its just recently. He said it might heal on it's own and I'm gonna visit him again in one month to see if it did or if it will need surgical repair.

It doesn't bother me that much since it's right where my urine comes out anyway, it would bother me more if I had urine flowing out from my scrotum or something. But I want to have it taken care of later either way of course ...

We then talked about what will be done next surgery apart from taking care if the fistula if that doesn't heal. He will do liposuction on the area above and do a mons resection to bring the whole package forward and up front, then he will trim down the outher labia surrounding my penis and of course put the implants in. My penis also leans to my right because I have more tissue on that side than on my left and he will take care of that too

Glad to hear you are doing well Mackan. I hope your fistula heals itself, that would be best and a nicest way have it  self correct.  Is it close enough to the normal opening that you can simply hold a finger over the hole and stop the urine from coming out?  I hope you can have your final surgery soon.

Mackan

Thank you  :)

Yes actually the fistula is right by the normal opening. The wierd part is that when I sit down and pee no urine comes out of the fistula only the normal opening. But when I stand up it comes from both, it use to not come from it when I stood up but I guess it does that now since the swelling when down some more. I guess ill sit down and pee for a couple of weeks to keep the urine out of there and hope that it will heal itself

Update:

The day before yesterday I was out with some friends and had a couple of beers, so I was going to the bathroom and walked by the urinals to go to the stall. When I suddenly though ah what the hell im going to give it a go. Since it was not many people in the bar the chance of me getting disturbed wasn't that great. So I did it and I had absolutly no problem, It was great!!! It's acctually easier to pee at a urinal cus you don't have to aim or anything there's no way you'll miss and pee outside or anything. I liked it so much I could'nt wait until I had to go again :P Went twice that evening and one time there's was another guy in there but I just picked the urinal at the far end so we didn't really stand next to each other but still im super happy I had the confidence to try it :)

Update: The fistula that I have right next to my actual pee hole doesn't seem to be going away on its own. On Monday I have another check up with my surgeon and I'm sure we will discuss  the fact that he will remove it on my upcoming surgery.

Overall not much have happened, I have no leaking and everything has healed up so no more wearing pads which is a relief. I don't know if I actually needed to wear them for this long but I guess I was scared about possible leakage while at work.

I'm still applying vitamin E oil every now and then to soften the scar tissue which is pretty soft I think but the more I can soften it up the better my testicular implants will fit I think.

In general I'm pretty happy so far and I think i will be even more happy when I get the implants, just groping my groin now feels awesome because there's actually a package down there and I'm still in the wow stage about that
