Anti-Chettawut 'Conspiracy'???

Hi girls,

I recently became rather enticed by doctor Chettawut's most recent before & after additions to his website. His forehead work is impeccable, and I must also say, although jaw is not of particular concern to me, I've never seen jaw work quite as unbelievably 'transformative' as what I saw today.

As disconcerting as that is, however, there were a few factors in the "complaints" expressed on that page that, to say the least, made me inclined to reserve judgment.

Nearly all of the 'reverse-testimonials' provided on that page possessed one among many common themes - each of the tales of woe were honestly the some of the most HORRIFIC and unimaginable stories I have ever heard in relation to FFS by a well-known, licensed practicing surgeon. I can understand that even the GREATEST of FFS surgeons (and plastic surgeons in general) are not infallible, and hazards and tragedies can arise. That having been said, it would require *quite* the suspension of disbelief that a single, generally-revered surgeon could be capable of SO many horrendously botched surgeries with blatant disregard for his patients, and still maintain his licensure.

. Many of the alleged individual complaints were wrought with common themes in terms of very similar linguistic theatrics and repeated phrases.

I have seen one of the individuals in particular who maintains a male name and had allegedly suffered a botched SRS procedure at the hands of Chettawut rant & rave on EVERY site (Susans, Wordpress, YouTube, etc.) that will listen - always the same story and histrionics. Sort of makes me wonder if the individual in question is somehow conspiring against Chettawut on a personal basis (perhaps professional competition based?) as I have yet to witness, which brings me to my next point...

. ...more than perhaps one verified, adequately documented case of malpractice on Chettawut's part. On Susans, and other of the 'primary' TG information boards, in the vast majority of cases, Chettawut is described among quite valid cases of long-term, respected community members as being a very kind, compassionate and professionally-competent surgeon, and even those who weren't 100% aesthetically satisfied with his results did not suggest that he was in any way a maniacal, money-hungry serial butcher (as these far more 'anonymous' reviews would suggest...). In fact, one girl on this very forum said that he turned her AWAY from pursuing any work whatsoever, as he felt she was feminine already and there was no improvement he could professionally deem necessary.

Something about all of this ranting and raving just doesn't 'sit' right with me. Does anyone have any information regarding this 'phenomena' or perhaps recent experiences that stand in defiance of these harrowing tales of unadulterated surgical terror?

Everyone needs to understand its surgery.

Cut open things with knifes. Remove or add things and make changes.

Risks are involved and not everything can be the same pre cut open.

If you do not accept the risks one should never go under the knife.

Yes it's that simple.

Make your decision and stick by it.

A couple years ago there was someone who had a similair "hate campaign" against Dr Ousterhout, i will not mention her name here but she was all over the internet back then.I think some of these people may have some mental problems combined with unrealstic expatations that surgery will make you pass instanly after your surgery.Plus even the worlds best doctor can have an off day there can always something that can go wrong with surgery so you have to take that into account.If i were you i would take the stories on that website with a grain of salt and do you own research and then make you own decision.

These stories about botched surgeries in Thailand have been publicized over n over again, in the news on tv and online, which really concerns me because it's probably gonna be the only place I can afford to get anything done.

I myself went to Thailand for my breast augmentation,cheek implants and tracheal shave and i couldnt be happier with my results, i didnt go to Dr Chettawut but to Yanhee hospital and the care i got there was the best i ever got so much better that at any hospital here in Holland.Yes there are some doctors in Thailand that have a bad track record but if you stick to the mainstream doctors and hospitals(Suporn,Chettawut,Preecha,Yanhee,Bumrungrand etc) you should be fine, there is always the chance that something goes wrong but i dont think that is any different then any doctor in the USA or Europe where sometimes things go wrong also.

Drama tends to create attention for the writer, and increased sales of papers/airtime.

It's also a fact that many people will write in the style "OMG this (product/doctor/car mech) is THE WORST, and if you go there YOU ARE A FOOL!!!"

So take opinions with a grain of salt...

I did my GRS and BA surgery with Chett and can only say it was a very positive experience. This was so much the case that I also wondered about the basis of some of the anti-Chett stuff I also found on the internet which finally seemed to be all down to the same person.This included a "Chett Victims" FB group on which there was basically nothing.
The problem with these internet campaigns is that they nevertheless  do seem to stick a bit. For example, in spite of all the very detailed and positive stories here, from time to time I still see people talking about Chett's terrible reputation, as if it was a given.
Regarding my own surgery which went extremely well, for aesthetic reasons,  I will most likely need a small revision. This has already been scheduled, totally free of charge, for next April without any hassle whatsoever. The issue was discussed before I went home from Bangkok and since it hasn't evolved favorably, we recently scheduled the revision in as friendly a manner as the initial surgeries.
The last remark I would like to make is that I can imagine fewer places on the planet (and I have travelled a lot), where the people are so naturally warm and people oriented as Thailand. It was really a great place for my GRS.

I have been a member of FFS Support since 2003 and in all that time, I have only seen a couple of negative posts about Thai surgeons and these were post-op problems like a haemotoma etc and not the actual surgery.

Mind you I was not on there all the time during those years so I might have missed something.

A few of my friends have had surgery there such as SRS and FFS and are delighted. Their care while in Thailand was exemplary.

BUT there will always be some cases wherever you go and things don't go right and I know all about that sadly.

The lady with the huge lump on her cheek is some MTF who had botched  illegal'silicone' injections from 'a dr' in the USA!

I had partial FFS with dr Chet late 2004 and I'm still happy with the very natural looking results.

And yes, he advised me to leave my natural, small nose with a natural low bridge like it was/is because it already looks fem by nature. (Whereas both dr Noorman van der Dussen and dr Suporn tried to sell me a nosejob during A REAL LIFE consultation! Just to make some extra money...and leaving me disfigured with a too small too short nose...)

Dr Chett managed to make my low nosebridge really nice, natural and beautiful in a flowing line with my new forehead.

Btw: there was a British dr Chett patient, Tina, who banged her head into a beam in her attick very shortly after her forehead reconstruction.
It caused the healing parts to break  causing severe infection of her forehead sinus.

She blamed dr Chett for delevering bad results and causing infections and ranted for years on several TS sites and blogs, eventually even creating an anti dr Chett blog of her own, calling him dr ->-bleeped-<-tawut.

Dr Chett performed (free) revision surgery on her, using strips of bone taken from her hip with good results.

After healing nothing was heard from Tina again.

Yep I have come across TG girls who like to blame everyone else except themselves.

Some of my dealings with them have been frightening, one of them who I allowed to stay in my home a few years back because she was homeless, I found out to be an alcoholic and one day in a drunken rage tried to kill me with a kitchen knife.

I managed to shut the lounge door before she got to me but it was glass and she put her hand with knife through it. I had to call 999 otherwise she would have bled to death. I called my next door neighbour who saved her life before the ambulance arrived.

When she was sober she was wonderful but I had to give her money to get her own apartment in London.

I have since lost touch with her and often wonder if she is still with us.

That is absolutely insane! I had to giggle a bit at "Dr. ->-bleeped-<-tawut" (though it was totally uncallled-for on her part) but that story is bonkers.

I'm so happy to see all the positive stories about Chet. He seems like an amazing surgeon and his work stands out on a level separate from other FFS surgeons I have seen - in my case, I'm most drawn to his forehead work as that is the one feature I would like to further refine.

His jaws are absolutely unbelievable though. I've never seen such drastic bone transformations!

Especially in Thailand, like not so long ago there was this black market surgeon getting around, I can't remember his name but he was offering everything n anything, he got away with dodgey botched surgeries for years, but he got shut down not so long ago, thank God.
I seen it on the news but you hear it all the time if you live in Australia because so many people go over there for surgery, I don't know how many are black market but a lot of people have ended up pretty messed up, so living here I get all the paranoia, conspiracies, horror stories and everything else, it makes it really hard on my choices.

I'm going to make the comment that sites like that may exist because of what happens in places like this..

I've seen people make posts about surgical issues and then have the local branch of that surgeons fan club come in and deny any possibility of issues and insist that the poster is a liar. And that THEY have caused the issues. I'm not sure how a surgeon leaving behind 7" of excess erectile tissie   I've met more than one Suporn patient with surgeon-caused issues - and at least one of those people was abused for posting about it here.

Being honest, if I had SRS/FFS/BA and had complications, I'd probably not mention it here or other trans support spaces.. Being called a liar in such circumstances is beyond what I should have to deal with.

I still think it's important to take these types of accounts in to account when considering any surgery, I mean this case sounds as if it's faked but what I actually mean is the types of surgery done in Thailand are mostly open surgery so the risk is much higher then say Dr zukowshi's endoscopic technique, even tho from what I can gather so far many say that the open surgery has a better result, so at the end of the day I think everyone should take up the doctors motto -"we must weigh up the risks n the benefits."- which is something pretty much every doctor go's by n I think that exactly how we must think about surgery, like "do I really need that much done, considering the risk? dose the surgery need to be that extreme, considering the risks? what about recovery time, considering the risk?" like any surgery carries risks so it's a good idea to think "how can I minimize my risks." And unfortunately I do believe there is increased risks involved when going overseas to poorer type countries but for a lot of us that risk under weighs the potential benefit, like I would love to get ffs done hear in Australia where I have insurance but the sad fact is there are few doctors that will do it and it's more expensive.

Be cautious about such posts, we have had a rather large number of such posts some of which trace back to the sites of other surgeons. All of which are now banned.

Just do your research, make your mind up and go with confidence.

I wasn't making a specific comment about Chett, just a general comments about surgery.. The Suporn patient with the excess erectile tissue? Well, that info came from a post-surgical report done by the surgeon who revised the original SRS - and it's not the only similar issue the surgeon has fixed.

as someone who went to dr. chettawut .   there are many surgeons who are much better than him.
I am stating facts that can be backed up.

IMO he should have chosen another profession.
I will post about this later so people can form their own conclusions. for example 1 labia minora is so small it almost doesn't exist and would need extensive and expensive revisions to be corrected.

I have nothing to do with the negative web pages and do not post on them.
