Hello everyone!

My name is Jamie. I am a 27 year old mtf and am VERY looking forward to starting hormones on Jan 5th. I currently reside in Michigan and I work full time as an electrical engineer. I'm sure that like many of you, my entire life I have know I was born in the wrong body. I recently went to a gender therapist and received a letter for hormones (I went fully dressed... probably the scariest thing that I have ever done in my life! Not even close to passing!). Finally, in May I got engaged. Thankfully, my fiance seems to be accepting everything I seem to be throwing at her.... I can't love her enough for it.

Here are some of my biggest fears:
1. Losing my job... I live in a very conservative area and work with some pretty old-fashioned people. I am afraid that the probability of being fired is very high. The problem is that I absolutely love my job and what I do.
2. How am I going to pay for all this! Everything seems overwhelming especially with hefty college loans that I have to pay off! One step at a time I suppose...
3. Losing my fiance: She seems to be taking it all in fine now, but I will always have that inherent fear that it will change... Could anybody please provide some sort of spousal informational reading? Also, if anybody knows any good support groups that she could join? Any information and we will be eternally grateful.

I look forward to being a member of this forum! I know that in my heart that I have the strength to transition! Lastly, I have been an active member on the Minecraft server... username is swan187 and nickname is Jamie. Don't hesitate to message me!

Welcome Jamie87 to Susan's family

So many topics to explore and post to write.

Yes a day at a time is what we all have done.

You seem to be on a good start with the therapist and doctors to prescribe.

Hugs

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Welcome! It sounds like you've got a good handle on things and your fiancee is doing fine. :)

However, since you asked for resources, my own wife recommends (as well as the SOs board here, obviously) : https://www.facebook.com/groups/Transmarriage/ , https://plus.google.com/communities/113055148953814149444 , http://www.myhusbandbetty.com/community/ , https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/engender_partners/info .

The good news is that the latest, biggest study on trans people shows that 45% of marriages or relationships survive transition, and I suspect the odds are much better when the partner knows going into the wedding (as your fiancee does).

Good luck and enjoy HRT!!
