This is a thread for me to track and share my vocal progress. I started working on my voice only when alone in ~August of 2013 and the recordings start in November 2014 meaning there is a long gap (~15 months) that I worked on my voice but was not comfortable putting myself out there.

My method is to raise my pitch when talking to the highest I can comfortably and use it day to day and slowly raising it week to week. I try and sing (not in falsetto) at a higher octave than my starting point was. I am happy with my progress so far and am optimistic I will be able to achieve the voice that I want with patience, practice and self-training alone.

I will start by re-posting some samples I have previously posted in another thread in chronological order with dates and will post a new recording at ~1 week intervals until I am happy with my voice. I will also only include recordings from 2015 after this post.

Random recordings

Begin "The North Wind and the Sun" reading passage

If you want to share your progress in this thread, it would be greatly appreciated if you did so in the same/similar format I used above.

Sounds amazing.  Did you see a speech therapist?  Also here's a general question to anyone reading this has anyone tried the EVA breath and or EVA pitch apps?  I've been wanting to try them so I'm hoping for positive feedback...

Amazing! What did you use to practice?
Basically just use the most female voice day to day as much as possible and trying to raise the pitch at the end of the week by recording and analyzing in Praat. It became much easier to practice once I went full-time since I was basically forced to use a female voice or risk being hurt by mean people.

It took some time to see any real progress initially. Now I consider my voice "passing" (I really hate that word), but I feel like I need more work to be fully comfortable and there is still progress, it just seems harder to hear.

Thank you! Still more practicing to do until I will be satisfied. :)

Thanks you! I have not used EVA, it seemed like just recordings though? I have not seen a speech therapist, and I thought about it initially, but the cost was too high at that time. I think if it comes down to it, at the end of this year, if I am still not fully satisfied with my self progress I will see a speech therapist for the extra help I need.

Really great first go Makenzie. I'd love to hear your progress in the future. I am going to post one every week for a year so I can track my progress. Keep up the great work girl!

This made me really happy and excited to practice on my own and see how high I can get my voice.

I think I'm gonna read The Tale of the Three Brothers because I'm just a dork.

The story was cut off at 2:11 :(  I was getting into that story too. Great voice BTW, definitely sounds like a woman to me :)

You have made amazing progress, although I must admit your first recordings were totally credible in their own right. Congrats on an amazing feat of self discipline and astounding results!

Thanks! Still working on getting to the point I never slip. Mornings are pretty brutal until I get a shower (and sing :P). I think I might start doing singing recordings to work on that soon.....
