What can you tell by the way a person writes?

What, if anything, can you tell by how a person post in threads?

Do you think you could tell what gender a person is by subtleties in a persons words? Weather it be the under tone of their message or how they use words all together.

If the M or F or whatever a person identifies as on the site, and their feminine or masculine names were all removed do you think you could identify their gender by their writing?

If so could you tell if that person was in the beginning, middle, or finalizing their journey? If they had started hormones? Or anything else you might be able to observe.

Just a curious thought

I mean aside from when you hear the girls say things like sweety, darling, or when the guys say bro or whatever you guys may say. I think dude ha become a unisex term at times so I don't want to lump that one in, but you get the just. Kinda think some of the responses may be interesting to hear.

Interesting question Personally I call everyone 'babe', male or female. But I guess that's a British thing.
I think in some posts it may be possible to tell, but not in most. It would depend on how many posts that person had made and how much of their personality you were able to get from those posts I think.

I played Second Life for a few years (as female) and managed a couple of all girl regions there. Most of the time I could easily spot a guy pretending to be female, but not always. The ones I didn't spot, who eventually told me, were always trans

I wonder if swapping avatar pics would change perceptions of gender in posts too....like when you see a movie scene with, say, horror music, then with comedy music and it changes the whole feel of it.

You can tell a great number of things about a person by the way they write, actually, if you know what to look for. You can tell what mood they're in, for example. People often make the mistake of assuming that because you can't read body language or hear tone through text, this isn't possible, but people write differently depending on their mood. The differences are subtle, but they are there. Many people have been shocked when I asked them what's wrong out of the blue, thinking they were hiding being sad, depressed, etc. Then they suddenly open up to me about whatever burden they've been carrying.

Yes, I can usually tell someone's gender by how they write. And I can't think that this has ever been affected by how far along they are in transition. Nor does it have anything to do with how 'cutesy' or verbose their writing is. I'm not sure I could explain it. It's just something I pick up on. Maybe it's part of my OCD powers, lol.

I can usually pick up on m or f when someone first signs up and they can't use an avatar or their gender. I've noticed that f write a bit more and more descriptively. Very keen to detail most of the time. Sometimes I can pick up on moods but not always. I know a couple days ago I responded to a non gender post and after I replies came in I realized it was about 95% ftm before I even looked at the little stat box to the left.
I usually just read and don't think about it.
I think its interesting because cis male and female brains work completely different when ask to perform any task. So for most I think it furtheres  the proof of literally having a female brain (or male) and the wrong body. A conversation (well me arguing my point) with my mom yesterday evening.

I am going to have sooooo much fun with this. I have been writing all of my life. Music, stories, poems, even 3 chapters to a book. What I think will be interesting about this, is before I accepted myself I did quiet a bit of juicing ( taking steroids ).  Sometimes having my levels 10x average male levels. Now that I have accepted myself i know my writing has changed. I would like to see if there are periods of fluctuation periods where I didn't have ridiculous amounts of male hormones in my system.

Ok, so I tried some of my post on here and got female everytime. I tried a chapter of my book and got very strong male. I tried a few verses to songs I have written and got mixed female and male ( most likely due to the genre and content in some of the lyrics ). Then I decided the best test would be to do some free writing. Just anything off the top of my head, anything that came out really That came back pretty overwhelmingly Female. So like Rotika said I know it's just a computer but it still gave me female lol. Even suprisingly on some things I knew would come back male.

I too have been writing from a young age. 3 unpublished books. Hundreds of short stories (outlines) for pencil/paper RPGs. Poems.. songs.. omg.. I submitted over 50,000 words easily and female to weak-female is all I got. So funny. The computer clocked me haha

I love writing. My form is horrible from writing bars of music for so long. I always wanted to finish and publish my book, but when things started escalating with music I never had time.
God, I have probably written or do written 1000 songs lol.

Haha yes I read some of that "who do you want to meet" thread. Honestly I'd love to meet just about anyone like me. Would be fun to get a group together and goto a drag show.. Grab a limo.. a hotel.. a hangover LOL... but really just to disconnect from reality and slip into our own domain for a girls' night out.
   Music took me by surprise one day on the couch with my sister's guitar. Was on the couch all night googling how to play basic chords.. been studying all the techniques my head can handle since. I don't know sheet music to save my life.. only tabs. However, I've been quite the opposite. I grew up writing stories. Putting my words into songs has been.. eh.. not so great I suppose?

I agree I think the idea of getting together with people and feeling free for a night or two would be absolutely amazing. I didny expect to come on here and stay, but there's almost an instant bond is the best I know to explain it. Its weird, but good. Its addictive lol. To bad everyone is scattered out all over the world. We have pretty famous drag shows here in Atlanta. J/S lol.
I grew up almost being prepped to write. I remember aside from fiction I thought I would enjoy writing speeches. Then I picked up music it being part of the culture I grew up around and almost from day 1 was in the studio. So I got way out of form. The music I wrote I bet you would never guess what my genre was/is. That is also why I thought it would all come back male. Very masculine machismo brand. Surprisingly the more insightful and political verses I submitted came back female.

Oh I was gonna say. I could help you with putting your thought into music if you'd like. I wrote for all kinds of different artist and it was usually always about me pushing them in a direction to where they could write it themselves. That way the lyric evokes more emotion, therefore sounds more genuine and just better.

But now I'm out and trying to find people like me in a small town in Ohio. No one within 50 miles would ever come out. Just too redneck. I grew up in the woods lol..
   Mistakes? hah.. When I write stories I try to write correctly so that there is no question in my meaning. When I write a message like this though.. I'm literally trying to make the reader be able to hear the conversation. And my words I hope are heard the way I would say them really. When I write a story my vocabulary may extend quite further than my spoken lexicon. So really in the end.. there are no smiley faces in webster's dictionary.. but I hope you enjoy reading them to enforce just what I was trying to get at. There are no mistakes here. Just good conversations

That would be so sweet of you. I'm not really sure how we could collaborate, but it would def be fun. I've had a few people try to follow me into my guitar playing.. not much luck. Most people say I'm a bit all over the place. I don't feel like I'm playing chords though. I feel like I'm playing feelings. I can't sing/play at the same time.. so I kind've use my guitar as a voice. I can hear the words I want to sing in my head.. but the moment I open my mouth my fingers forget what they were doing

I can't believe I got female, I tried two of my posts here and got female in both. Kinda weird, but happy about that.

As for me, I honestly can't tell if most posts here are by guys or girls unless I see 'F' or 'M' next to them, and since many don't list their gender, I usually go through their previous posts before responding to them. I don't think there's much of a difference.
