I was just wondering if there were alternatives to tucking, a way to still look feminine that doesn't sound so painful.

My crossdressing experience is severely limited, and the few times I did it, I wasn't all that concerned about passing.  I didn't even wear the proper underwear or a skirt either time.  So, honestly, I don't know.  Right now, I'm only thinking about what I can wear when I'm at home, by myself, just to feel more comfortable with me.

Honestly, I want to be able to wear a thong and maybe not pass, per se, but to be able to look at myself and not necessarily see a boy in panties.  Because I'd only really be wearing these for me.  At least, for now.  I realize that may not necessarily be possible, or that I should probably start with a more traditional style of panty first, but that's kind of my goal, at the moment.

Actually, the goal is to feel like a real girl, gain the comfort and confidence to move forward.  But baby steps.

A tight panty, or doubling your panties can reduce the bulge, another cool option could be pleated skirts. Personally I never tuck, and have been known to spend lots of time in public... Most importantly have fun and enjoy! We all have enough stress exploring can be very rewarding!

I don't try all that hard to tuck but I don't have a lot to tuck anyway.

I've also found that panty liners can flatten the look.

Tucking is really easy when you get used to it. I have plenty to tuck away and it all works fine. Panty liners as Kate suggested can flatten the look.
The important thing is to enjoy dressing up an enjoy being yourself.

I don't have a gender issue.

Wear pleated dress or skirt, which does not require tucking. Or you can wear very long tops to hide that area when you wear leggings.

For example, I wear this red dress as my sleepwear, too.

These are all really good tips. I will certainly have to try one of these techniques as the tucking process hurts and does not go well (and It's small to begin with). I think for me that I might just need to get something a little bit different in shape.

Tucking gets easier with time, I like tight microfiber panties and I can keep it tucked pain free! It did take a while to get used to though...  :-\
Being transgender does not give anyone a free pass or a hand out... we just want a fair shake and an opportunity as any AMERICAN and that is the freedom and LIBERTY that I fought for and defended.

I don't really have a bulge to hide, so I never tuck with the medical tape, just lay it back and flat.  Often I'll wear a body shape/briefer (Maidenform #M2057 in black.)  I picked mine up from a Hanes outlet store, and got to try it on before I purchased it.  It has a hook/eye opening in the crotch for when you have to visit the Lady's.  I'll leave the crotch fastened and slip it up after I have my hose/bra on.  It'll also help keep the hose/tights from sliding down.
Happy dressing,

I dont bother tucking   wear my girled up mens bikini undies    with skirts and dresses  if I need a flatter look  have a girdle that I keep my thinie out front flat against my tummy aria is comfy enough to wear and still look pretty

There are basically just three alternatives to tucking, of course. One is to have things surgically removed. Two is to wear clothes that don't allow your business to show (as Barbie demonstrates, above). The third is to not worry about the bulge and go on about your business. In recent years I've become a big fan of a category of feminine looking male fashion models who almost always look fabulous whether their bulge shows or their flat and bare chest is visible. Everyone here creates his/her own customized lifestyle so just try things and do what works for you.

Lol! That doesn't count, as there wouldn't be anything to tuck.

I think just wearing a skirt that has folds like barbie's did do more than enough to cover. I still suck at this. Very Hard to do still

You can try tighter girls shorts (soft trunks x2, you can buy these at old navy or target) over panties, the outer layer past the girl shorts would be a boyshort trunk (old navy and target has these) to create a curvy hip. I tuck in the U shape, not too tight you can cut off circulation, not the C (like most youtube videos tell you). If you are on Spiro (this is better since over time, Spiro makes the male genitals smaller). Then you can wear leggings or skirts over it. Tights usually hide the crotch part esp. darker fabrics. Those who are not on hormones and are worried that they get unwanted erections that would cause pain in the bulge of the tuck, a simple trick is to suppress those unwanted erections by thinking of a non-sexual thought as a bubble and popping that bubble. Erections are controlled by the brain and it can be controlled by having self-control. When on Spiro, unwanted erections are thing of the past, since your libido is down all the time.
