Last Minute Tips Please!

I have been trying to come out to my mother for the longest time. And now the time is here! I asked her if she would go out to dinner with me - just us two (which never happens) - and she said yes.

Now that the plan is set...

I'm psyching myself out. I'm a happy anxious, and also a nervous anxious. So...for those of you who have already come out, do you have any last minute advice? Anything I need to remember to mention? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Also be prepared for the "are you sure?" question and possibly the "but you never played with x or y as a child" observation.

When she asks me that, which I'm sure she will, I'll tell her about how I've been identifying as male since the summer before freshman year and waited until now (the end of senior year) just to make sure I was sure. XD

And as a child, I actually did play with my brother and guy friends a lot more than the girls. My brother once made a comment (when I was about 6 or 7) that I was "a boy trapped in a girl's body" o.o I have my evidences xD

This is not a sprint, it's a marathon. Whatever happens, stay calm and realize that what you see from her will be just her initial reaction. Getting used to having a transgender kid is a process which takes some longer than others.

It went well. 🙂 she hugged me and said to be whoever I am and to be proud of that, and then she asked questions about what it's like, how it feels, and what my sexuality is like. It was really nice.
