Robin Adelmann is a transgender woman who was arrested for shoplifting at Sapell's grocery store.

Adelmann told newsnet5.com she was treated with respect when she was arrested at the store, but while she was in a holding cell, Detective Tom McLaughlin started playing the Aerosmith song ["Dude Looks Like a Lady"] very loudly on his police computer.

Adelmann explained when she questioned the detective about the issue, he next played the song "Lola" - yet another song with a transgender theme.

Adelmann filed a formal complaint with the Lakewood Police Department

People say respect cops... I would have to say respect is earned, not given.

Actually, people say to respect others with Authority, power, a higher power etc. etc. etc., yet I say, respect is earned, not given. However, I also say regardless of position, authority etc., we should all do our best to respect everyone as much as we can.
