And then there were two: Rumer or Brassard

Choosing the right surgeon is a unique right of passage for each of us.  I am truly hoping to be able to schedule in early fall, but my therapists would really kind of like to know whom to address their letters, now'ish.  Go figure.  :)  Thus my current conundrum.

These two surgeons are very similar in many respects, cost, technique, hair removal (none), on-site-ish recovery, and others.

I know there are a lot of currently active Brassard girls and a few from Rumer.  I was wondering what swayed your opinions to chose one of these doctors.

For me, honestly, it was the aftercare - a week in a residence with 24/7 nursing care did a lot for my peace of mind. (I'd already narrowed it down to North American surgeons with results I found acceptable, by that point.) And it was well worth it. :)

I've [re]posted a longer review of Brassard here : https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,182064.msg1614537.html#msg1614537

Honestly, for me, it was convenience. I wanted a doctor I didn't have to get on a plane to see if I needed a revision or had complications. Rumer is only a couple of hours drive from me, whereas Brassard is in another country.

That being said, I'm very glad I chose Rumer. The whole process went very smoothly and she and her staff were very professional throughout.

Don't know if you've already read it, but I posted my experience with Dr. Rumer here : https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,164493.0.html

Please PM me if there is anything I can tell you that might help you decide.

Good luck, Angela.

I think both of them are great choices.

Benefit of Broussard is the 24hr care you get the entire time.

Also you get a visit from me lol! ♡

Seriously i think you will be happy with who ever you feel confident with.

I am a "Brassard girl", and am now 4+ months post op.
I chose Brassard for very easy reasons:
Firstly, as I live in Ottawa, Ontario, it is only a 1.5 hour drive. So proximity was a good thing as I know I can always go visit him for free check up. In fact, I'm seeing him Feb 16 just for a routine check up.
Secondly, the Province of Ontario - like 4 other Canadian provinces pays for 100%. So no money out of my own pocket. Even the cost of the B&B was covered.
Thirdly, I had heard - and I don't want to get into a pissing match over words - but that the after care recovery is second to none. 3 days following surgery, I was moved to recovery centre. For the next week, we had awesome care from nurses & attendants - around the clock. We had such special care in removing catheter, showing us how to dilate, how to care etc. That part of the process was important to me.
So I glow about Dr. Brassard, and lets not forget, he has brought on Dr. Maude Belanger. They are a magnificent team and a world class facility.
