6 Awful Lessons I Learned Transitioning from Female to Male
By Amanda Mannen,  Roman Jones / Cracked.com

If you're a man and want to throw your office into turmoil tomorrow, all you have to do is show up in a dress. If you're a woman and want to utterly disrupt the lives of everyone around you, just grow a beard. What we're saying is that people cling so desperately to gender roles that when anyone colors outside those lines, the world freaks the ->-bleeped-<- out. No one knows this better than transgender people.

We've previously talked to a trans woman -- that is, a woman who was designated male at birth -- about what it's like to make that transition in a society that fights you every step of the way. But the other side of that equation is even less visible to society. While there are at least a few highly visible trans women in pop culture now, such as Janet Mock and Laverne Cox, trans men are even more of a mystery to the average person. So we talked to Roman Jones, a trans man and American expat living in the Czech Republic, who told us ...

An interesting "beginners guide" to F2M transition.

While some of those points are valid, particularly number one, most are out dated or dependent on location.

Yes, they say the moved to Europe but no indication of how long ago. These kind of articles like to be 'sensationalist' and 'humorous' hence the labouring of several points. Also, if they are outdated, I sure hope the situations discussed and better now because the article paints a rather bleak picture. :-\

It's a Cracked article. Cracked writers couldn't be serious if you held a gun to their head. They tend to exaggerate everything for comedic value. It's an entertaining site but I wouldn't go there looking for serious info on anything. They're almost like the funny yet annoying younger brother of the internet.

That said, the two horror novels David Wong (Cracked writer) wrote are SUPER!!!
Stooping down, dipping my wings, I came into the darkly-splendid abodes. There, in that formless abyss was I made a partaker of the Mysteries Averse. LIBER CORDIS CINCTI SERPENTE-11;4

They do have the occasionally "serious" article, while the site is often full of satire I do like the fact it rarely isn't out and out BS. The stories like this one are usually written after talking with someone with experience of the subject matter (in this instance, presumably, Roman Jones)...how much the writers fluff it up afterwards I have no idea.

Still a pretty interesting read. Gave me a few good giggles.
To strive to reach the apex of evolution is folly, for to achieve the pinnacle is to birth a god.

When the Stryker fires, all turn to dust in its wake.

Totally true point about transguys being invisible in the media, Chaz Bono excepted. As a culture, we're just not as fascinated when someone with a vagina declares he wants to be a man.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Chaz wasn't the best representative in my opinion.

I concur. This article is a bit outdated but that dating aspect is still true.

There's some truth in that article, but it sensationalized pretty much everything.  (Not everyone's nipples fall off after top surgery... )
