Today I completed the first of the therapy sessions needed to get my GRS "treatment letters" down here in South Florida. This session was for the "detailed" letter.
The therapist I met with, Dr. Marilyn K. Volker, is well versed in transgender issues, and has worked with the trans community for many years. We got through her structured questions in just under 90 minutes, with plenty of time for some story-telling digressions.
We also had a few good laughs along the way, which was nice considering I thought the meeting would be deadly serious.

Something I thought was nice - Dr. V gave me the names of two local trans support groups, led by people she knows and has worked with for years, and said I should go make some friends. I'm a little shy about that, so I needed the push.
She also suggested joining the
Women in Network (WIN) group in Broward County as they are very supportive of trans women. This also sounds cool and I plan to check it out soon.
Finally, she encouraged me to get involved locally, even volunteer to speak, which surprised me but does sound interesting if I can get up the nerve.
So, all in all, it was a really good experience.

My next session will be with a different therapist to get the "concurring" letter. I'll post about that meeting as well...
