So today i saw my therapist. Over the next two weeks she will be getting all my info together and sending it into the endocrinologist along with my letter of approval. In the next 3 to 6 months ill be on Testosterone hopefully!!! But when on the phone with the nurse from the endocrinologist office she said he has to approve it as well. What are some things that would hold me back? (My therapist says it's okay, my general health doctor says its okay, im in good health both physically and mentally. I even started working out in the fall i quit smoking even.) what would be something that would hold me back?

smoking is usually the big no-no. even weight hasn't stopped people from getting approved for t. the only other thing would be underlining health problems that you previously had that could cause issues but if you're in good health mentally and physically, you shouldn't worry.

Yeah i quit smoking a few months ago. though i do know a guy who has the same doctor and he is 150lbs over weight and smokes a oack a day and he got on t easily with this doctor so i don't think it will be something that will stop it. I have no real health problems other than thyroid issues but they been watched for years and i take meds and its healthy right now.

- Smoking: Most doctors will not prescribe HRT to a smoker.
- Past medication abuse: Not necessarily a disqualifier, but they may monitor you more closely if you have a history of substance abuse.
- Cholesterol/Blood Pressure/Red Blood Cell Count: Again, not necessarily a disqualifier, but if you can't get them in check they likely won't raise your dose beyond a certain point because T can make things worse.

Yeah my doctor said I should quit so it will be easier and the nurse at the endocrinologist said by time i get my appointment ill be fine. Its been 4 months since my last cigarette by timr my appointment is here it will of been about 6 to 8 months. (The nurse said it wont be a problem and he has taken heavy smokers, i barely went through a pack a week honestly so no worries there too much) i have never abused meds nor do I have bad cholesterol or blood pressure or red blood count but i do have a low white blood count due to a problem another endocrinologist is taking care of thst is not a real problem.

So far as far as i can see there won't be a major problem.

That's a first, I never knew smoking was a no no. I never smoked in my life so I guess that's why it wasn't mentioned to me.

From the information you gave in your post, I would not be too concerned by the pending approval of the Endo. (easier said then done... I know)

I think it is simply another layer of protection for the Endocrinologist as well as the patient.  He gets to talk with you, see where you at health wise and what not.  If there was to be any concerns on his part, he would share those with you, but from the sound of it, I don't think you will have much of a problem.

Sounds like you still have a little while to wait until you see him, so I would suggest continuing to take good care of yourself and ensuring that you find ways not to let it stress you out too much (again, much easier said then done).

Yeah i don't know how much longer i have until the appointment. On Friday my therapist started collecting all my paperwork and writing my letter of approval she said give her 3 weeks tops then 3 weeks until i get my appointment then roughly 2 months maybe less until the appointment arrives. So far it looks like 3 to 6 months until I am on T.  I know one good thing the endocrinologist doesn't turn people down really and leaves you he sets up a later appointment 6 months later or more to see if your good to go then. So no worries.

It seems my worries are stupid but i know they are not. I think I just get to worried. My therapist says i have nothing to worry about

Your worries are not stupid.  If it is something that worries you, it means it is important.  Plus, we all tend to worry when it is tied to things that are dear to us.

Hang in there man and you can share those worries anytime. Ain't no stupid worries, if it affects ya, trust me.
