Quote from: jessical on March 02, 2015, 12:54:51 AMIt's a bit of a long shot, but you if the old gmail account has expired, you might be able to open a new one that has the same email address as the old one.
Quote from: pollypagan on March 02, 2015, 02:49:36 AMThey blocked me from using the name I had been using for a couple of years and panicked me into using my birth name which spawned concerned pms from my friends that I had changed my mind so to speak. I tried to change it but 60 days must elapse and I'm not convinced that will go easily. Hate them.
Quote from: Tripdistrans on March 02, 2015, 03:09:47 AMI think this is completely poppycock, but I've come to reply completely off track and say, Serenity, damn, your licence photo is hot af. Can you teach us all how to take delicious licence photos please?
Quote from: AnonyMs on March 02, 2015, 04:49:06 AMI refuse to use Facebook, but I do use LinkedIn which is much the same in principal. The difference is that I need LinkedIn for work and have no real use for Facebook - its not my kind of thing. Makes the decision easy I suppose. I don't think many people realize what they are trading when the uses these services, although the cynic in me says that it wouldn't make any difference. I'm happy to hear you do know, it was comments about Intellectual Property and irreplaceable things that had me thinking otherwise. I have a tendency to get seriously annoyed about companies taking advantage of people like this. It kind of sets me off, and and I need far less of that in my life. I've got too many problems already. I generally keep my distance from them unless they have something I really need. I did want to use Facebook once it get some info on some trans issues but they required an ID check, and I'm keeping my trans status hidden. There's no way I'm going to disclose it and my real identity to Facebook, and no way I can fight it since I'd lose the very thing I'm fighting for. Also, its kind of hopeless fighting companies like that. People win occasionally, but I seriously need less stress in my life. Those that fight the good fight though are helping the rest of us who won't. Not sure how I feel about that really. As to doom and gloom, I think that what all of these companies are doing is exceptionally dangerous to our way of life. Democracy's not been around that long, and I can see it not lasting too much longer. The information and power these companies are accumulating would be very dangerous in the wrong hands, and historically there's never been any shortage of people wanting power over others. I'm feeling gloomy tonight - I probably shouldn't have commented here in the first place.
Quote from: ftmax on March 02, 2015, 04:53:00 AMSuper annoying. There was a guy in one of the FTM groups I'm a part of on there who had the same thing happen about a month ago (or a little longer). I think he just recently got it sorted out.
Quote from: MugwortPsychonaut on March 02, 2015, 08:34:40 AMThe most radical, rebellious thing you can do in this situation, is to just walk away from Facebook.
Quote from: Devlyn Marie on March 02, 2015, 06:49:42 AMFacebook makes people show ID, yet I get posts from God and Santa Claus, go figure.
Quote from: LordKAT on March 02, 2015, 02:13:53 PMI'm not so sure that everyone shows ID, look what happened to Cindy.
Quote from: serenityfaith on March 02, 2015, 02:15:28 PMForgive me, who is Cindy? What happened?
Quote from: LordKAT on March 02, 2015, 02:19:58 PMI'm sorry for the reference. Cindy's past name made a fake facebook account. How could they have shown ID? I know I never did nor do I have my legal name on there.
Quote from: LordKAT on March 02, 2015, 02:27:54 PMI sometimes think it is more of a transgender irritation than it is an ID plan.
Quote from: LordKAT on March 02, 2015, 02:59:50 PM I don't think it is government related no matter how much they may say it is. Anonymity on the internet has always been an illusion if you know how to look.
Quote from: StrykerXIII on March 02, 2015, 09:32:59 PMLet them try me. I came out on my male account as trans and switched over - made it public that Julia was my new name, though not my legal name. I will take Zuckerberg himself to court for discrimination if this happens to me.
