I've just woken up from a bad hair nightmare, in which several inches too much had been cut off, but it turns out that was from before I went to sleep :o

I've not had it this short in over 12 years. It's always been really curly not just in a wavy way, so yesterday I tried a perm relaxer and then straightened with irons. A good inch to two was not all that healthy looking after the process so I asked my friend to trim it off. Keeping in mind it was getting late and we were both ready for bed at this point and she'd never cut anyone's hair, but I said don't worry it's be better then I could do to myself. So the first cut and its like way to much, on a front section and sort of at a odd angle :o

By this point you'd think we were both drunk off our faces as couldn't stop laughing, though my friend was flipping between regretful sobbing and laughing.

So now it's the morning after and I'm starting to wonder how the ->-bleeped-<- I'm going to cope with this. If it stays straight then OK it's short but still neck length, but seeing as my hair has never held straight after a day or getting wet I'm really starting to worry :(

Oh damns, it's pretty tragic... not really sure what can be done, going to hair dresser in a couple hours, hope they can do something to improve it :'(

I can totally relate.  When I first started growing my hair long last year (for the first time ever), it was an ongoing battle to figure out what to do with a flat iron, brushes and all these products.  I never realized how nice short hair was from a maintenance point of view.

Now I finally learned to embrace the curl in my hair and give up straightening it (which is SO damaging anyway, especially since I color mine).  I add curly-shiny-bounce to my hair with a really great product, "John Frieda Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Daily Styling Spray".  This, plus coconut oil after washing+conditioning it, is all I use these days.

P.S.  I had actual anxiety nightmares about my hair getting cut short again during the first 3 or 4 months of growing it long.

Today really turned around, had a really good day after getting fixed up at the hair salon.

It's amazing how powerful an effect something like hair can have, especially when I've never changed it in years. It was a big shock, I was in shock when it happened and both me and Kat lost a lot of sleep and felt so stressed about it, it was almost as if we'd been involved in some life threatening accident.

I didn't realise how much of my old self was rooted in that hair, I loved it long but I am happy it's gone. I'm also really happy with my new hair so yays, a disaster became a blessing :D xxx

I'm going to have to see how I get on with maintaining the straightness, though I guess now its been layered and the relaxer has dropped a lot of its springiness might look alright curly wavy xx

you got that right, I call the art "any slight breeze", pillow hair is a genorous description, mad scientist who's touched a live wire would be better
