Hello, I'm looking for a therapist and I'd rather talk to them online instead of in person, but the only online therapist I can find who is licensed in my state said they have a waiting list for about two months, and while I can't see a therapist right now, I'd rather not wait that long if I don't have to.

This is the person I found:http://micheleomara.com/services/transgender/

Does anyone know of any other therapists who will talk to you online and are licensed in indiana?

Thank you for your time.

I ran across this one when I was searching for a therapist:

http://beachchairtherapy.com/

I've never been to see her so I can't recommend her either way but she has gender identity issues listed as a specialty and does online/email sessions.  She's located in Carmel, Indiana.

Hope this helps!

Is there a particular reason you're looking for someone licensed in your state? I live in Virginia and have used 2 online therapists (one in North Carolina, one in England) to get the referrals I needed for surgery.

The only reason I can think of that it would matter is for insurance. You'll find that there are online therapists whose fee per session is actually less than what your copay would be.

I thought they had to be licensed in Indiana in order to help someone in Indiana, but since you have therapists in two different countries, I take it that's not the case.

Nope! For the most part as I understand it, therapist's licensing is for insurance purposes (your insurance may only pay for you to see someone local/in your state) OR as a means to hold someone accountable (any issues you have, you could take it up with the state's licensing board). I'm sure there are other functions of it, but not limiting who you can see.

More important would be making sure that they are licensed in some way. Mine were both licensed in their states/counties. This tells you that you're getting a qualified mental health professional. It tells any doctors/surgeons who need referrals from your therapist that you spoke with a person who is qualified to give such a referral.
