I know for most people fat redistribution on the face is iffy. (I got a fat chin around month 3) basically the skin got thicker under my chin. But my question is when it comes to the rest of my face filling out is a year usually the end point for that? I'm thinking since I've lost some weight it isn't working on my face correctly. I weigh 136 at 5'10 I'm really happy with the rest of my body so far. I just feel as if my face is sort of behind you know? My breast is still only a A cup after a year but it's mainly just the knot there. (Or whatever you call the under the nipple part in the breast) not much fat there. Do you guys think gaining weight would help with both of those problems? Sorry if my terms are weird. I'm just trying to improve myself. Also how long can I expect changes in the face etc?

I see nothing wrong with a little extra fat as you transition, since you are going through puberty and the extra calories may not hurt. Plus, boobs contain a lot of fat.

Of course, others will disagree. It gets harder and harder to lose weight as you transition. Why mess with a good thing?

If you want to round out more especially in the face gain the weight. I'm also 5'10  (3 years of hrt)
The face changes at least for me was very gradual. I didn't see much of a change till about after the first year and more subtle changes in the 2nd year.

I've said this countless times before but if you're really thin to begin with, gaining fat will just help your development even better. I started out at like 115-120lbs when I first began hrt. I'am now around 140-145 and I have some pretty awesome curves and my face feminized a bunch, which is mostly due to the weight I gained and genetics.  My mom and sister are both bottom heavy so I also have a similar physique, I'm just taller than them. To be fair my metabolism is still high and it was a lot of effort to gain that weight in the course of two years. Also I have tons of stretch marks on my thighs, calf, butt/hip area but I don't hate them, in fact its a bit affirming. It just comes with the territory sort of speak. I love my body right now minus my genitals. I'm hoping to gain some more weight but I'm pretty happy where I'm at.

My body is pretty curvy too. I'm at a year and a month (almost) I've been the same weight forever lol. Like my face has a difference between the beginning and now. But it's just not as much as I would like and I'm kind of worried about it. But I'm glad to here that it can change after the year mark. I also think weight is good for transition because it makes sense to me logically considering I'm mostly all skin and muscle. It's kind of hard to get fat redistribution without fat. :3 lol but thank you guys I'm going to try and gain some weight slowly.

I didn't really see much change that in the first year tbh, although others could see it. At 18+ months it seemed to kick in more for me. I've hear this over and over, for some it takes longer. The first year is only the beginning. Be patient you likely have a lot to come!

This is a good thread, I'm also one of those tall and skinny girls. I'm currently 5'10 and 138lbs as well. My endo said that this will likely work against me in terms of fat distrib when i start HRT (3 weeks away).

Normally i hover around 145 to 150 when I don't care about watching what i eat., but when I got super dysphoric 6 months back I lost some weight down to my current weight to help me feel more feminine and smaller. Now I'm wondering if I should try to gain some of that back as I start the therapy.

keep us posted on your progress!!

I really believe in this too. At 5'8" I was 129 lbs and 13% body fat before HRT, and at 141 now and 20% body fat after 3-4 months HRT and a steady gaining diet.  My chest, hips, legs and face/neck definitely look more rounded and feminine.  Women have a much higher fat-to-muscle ratio so abandon the male skinny muscular ideals, they won't help you on HRT.

Y'all are making me feel bulky even though I have been told I look skinny. I'm also 5 10 but 166 lbs. I do have a fair amount of muscle though (just well defined not big) and it is my hope that as that fades it will convert to fat, as happens to ex power lifters. I do a lot of cardio (brisk walking, biking and some running) so there is quite a bit of weight in my legs. I'm mostly posting in this thread just so I can keep an eye on y'all's progress for tips.

I'm 5'7" ish and 123lb. After 17 months on HRT I am the same weight I was when I started, though I look a lot thinner especially in my face. I am trying to gain weight now, but it is hard to do it in a safe and sustainable way, especially as I cannot eat much fat due to a digestive problem. If anyone has some diet tips, I would be happy for some advice.

I also have a digestve problem that precludes me from eating dairy, fried foods and red meat. I can eat the last two in small doses but I can't go near dairy. Carbs are probably a good route. Stuff like pasta, white rice, potatoes and white bread. Also eggs and healthy quantities of fatty fish. Pork products too, although sodium content and bad cholesterol are a factor there. If you're a vegetarian, beans beans beans.

I have some digestion troubles too if I eat a big meal without taking enzymes.  Take an enzyme tablet that has Lipase in it right before or while you're eating.  That will help break down lipids (fats).    :)

Thank you for the tips. I can manage low fat dairy, but fried food, pork and other fatty meats, butter and other oils and even nuts cause me problems. I can manage oily fish and avocado but not in large quantities. So I live mostly on veggies and carbohydrates - though I have some difficulties with gluten. It is really difficult. I will try adding more beans, like you said. Thank you again :)

Thank you! I will try this for sure.

So it's pretty much agreed that fat redistribution works with the more fat available. So if I gain 10-17 lbs it should help a lot? I used to weigh like 145 awhile back before hrt but I got really depressed and only ended up eating like once every 3 days so I lost a lot of that. Especially being taller I think being this light works against me and if it doesn't go to the right place I can always jiggle  my belly when I get it and giggle. Lol (sorry I love bellies) :3

I would think gaining a bit of weight would help, yes. :) I have a cis friend who's about your height and weight and complains that she has the same problems with no curves and thin face! (She has a super-fast metabolism; she tries to gain weight and can't.)

I feel the same way honestly Jenna. I eat a lot and usually have troubles gaining weight my body goes through about 1900 calories a day when I checked the thingy on how much my body uses. I struggle eating that much because I usually only eat twice a day. I plan to starting eating a box of macaroni again for a third meal = 1200 calories. :3 I'm starting to think it's my problem lol.
