See link below.
I am so amazed at how ignorant the world can be.  This is a hateful b(^&^&tch .  I am full time now.. can u imagine.. if a full time MTF or FTM had to use the opposite bathroom.
Its like she is saying its illegal to be trans.
I hope these types of bills do down in flames like they should..

You know, I love Texas for a lot of things (the barbecue, the spaciousness and the economic freedom) but I really despise some of these people who want to live in the dark ages...

FWIW this is the bill in question.

I predict if this passes it will only result in a transgender equivalent of Rosa Parks.

I don't think the Governor is THAT brave though.

This is the offending part:

Quote(e)AAFor the purpose of this section, the gender of an
individual is the gender established at the individual 's birth or
the gender established by the individual 's chromosomes. A male is
an individual with at least one X chromosome and at least one Y
chromosome, and a female is an individual with at least one X
chromosome and no Y chromosomes. If an individual 's gender
established at the individual 's birth is not the same as the
individual 's gender established by the individual 's chromosomes,
the individual 's gender established by the individual 's chromosomes
controls under this section.

So, we may have to submit to blood tests to use the facilities in TX?  Puh-Lease.

Even though I am from Oklahoma.. I would be seriously considering falling on the sword and going to Texas.. go into our(womans) restroom and call 911 and turn myself in.
I am fuming about this.. seriously.
These lawmakers do not know who we are they are just ignorant and its sad that there are still people on the planet like that..
But, I do not think it will ever pass.. still, what it says to young trans kids and people struggling is that there is something wrong with us.  Yes and that is why we transition to be cured.

The  law is also genetically incorrect.

There are over 500 reported cases of natal females who have given birth and during routine genetic testing where found to be XY.

Ignoranus: "If you have a penis between your legs, you are a man.  If you don't, you are a woman.  End of story."
Me: "If someone chomped yours off, would that make you a woman?"

I think I would make my stand at the Texas state capital woman's restrooms
Of course not without calling all major networks
What is most scary would be getting locked up with a bunch of dudes
Yuck

Does that mean you could not have a janitor or other maintenance worker of the opposite gender do work in the restroom? Or (considering that Texas is in Tornado Alley) take shelter from a storm in an opposite-gender restroom?

No. They exempt people who clean or give emergency assistance. How thoughtful of them.

Yep. They do this to get around the fact that trans people correct their ID.

I also can't believe this woman represents Houston.

Girl I will go with you! We can get together for some 'cue!

And given that the state Capitol is in Austin, I'm sure there will be no shortage of supporters.

Keep me posted. As long as it's not the week of my VFS I'm game.

This recent trend of "bathroom bills" seems to be nothing more than a modern day witch hunt.

Transgender people have been around this entire time, yet only recently, when we have finally begun to find our voice and make forward strides does the resistance and paranoia get crazy.

When women in colonial America began to find their voices and resist tradtional subjugation,  they could be falsely accused of consorting with the devil and be put to death.

Another waste of taxpayer money.

:)

Yes, money that could have been used to actually help people...

I just cannot see how this is in any way enforceable with any feasibility.  Unless they plan to install urine collection processes in the toilets to create an alert and some red flashing light outside of the restroom, how in heck are they gonna know what chromosome you have or have not?

I think Dodie is right, it will never pass.  See what I did there?  It is not passable.  See that?  How do they like it!?  Hmmmm?  We have pretty much clocked that BS House Resolution...

This is a law that cannot be objectively enforced.   So basically, if you pass well, nobody will suspect a thing and it's OK, but if you don't pass well, you get a criminal record for it.  We cannot have laws enforced by subjective standards, and certainly not standards that vary from individual to individual.

I was once in a public restroom at a concert in Vegas.   While I was in line a woman yelled,  "There's a f***ing MAN in here!  Get the f*** out, or I'm calling the police."  At first I was sure she was referring to me, but then I saw the very butch lesbian with unshaved facial hair that she was pointing at.   Can you imagaine the lawsuits that cases like this could spawn if this law was passed?   It will create plenty of problems while solving none.

Whilst doing some research for my group tomorrow in the pages i've printed off is something that now springs to mind,

In 1979, a number of people in Sweden called in sick with a case of being homosexual, in protest of homosexuality being classified as an illness. . . . . . . . .Within a few months Sweden became the first country in the world to remove homosexuality as an illness.

I love history

I love reading about your fun attitudes to this nonsense and agree it could take a mass Sit and Sh*t all day protest to flush this waste of legislative effort.  I also consider this a response from the religious right wing that has been loosing badly in the gay marriage arena and needs another fresh meat scare to throw to the faithful and scare them into greater allegiance and $ contributions that will keep them "safe."

Oh yes the pervs are waiting for you and your innocent child in a dark restroom stall, shudder! >:-)

Exactly.  They remind me of a basketball team that commits a series of flagrant fouls at the end of the game when they are down 25 points and guaranteed a loss.

Game over.  You lost.
