Went to court today and filed my paperwork for a name and gender change in Mississippi. Wanted to share the info so others have access to it.
You have to serve the Department of Vital Statistics and AG's office. After 30 days the judge will change everything if the state doesn't contest it. They usually don't contest it, usually they say they deny that you need the relief, but don't want to fight it.
You must have a letter from a doctor, and a therapist saying that this is in your best interest, not for fraudulent purposes, and that you are under treatment for GID.
Your Birth Certificate will be amended to show the new name and new gender, with the old info struck through. It will still be visible on the Birth Certificate, but your ID and all other documents will show the correct gender and name.
I have NOT had GCS, and have been living full-time for 3 years, and on HRT for 2.
Hope this info helps.....should have my name change/gender finalized in 30-45 days!
