ok so i just git my first epilator, an felt like, you know what i really want to get rid of this hair, so i proceed to start by using the shave attachment on my brand new Braun silk epil 5, and all goes well, im laughing through this. how naieve i was.

i then decide, it doesn't look good enough so i should use the epilating bit on my chest, so far, i have done about the space of a small fist, and the pain isnt extreame, but enough to make you not want to do it :/ i assume thats normal. if anyone reading, please tell me thats normal, and normal for it to bleed a small amount :O

is there anyway to make it more painless? if not i will jack this all in and just grow a massively hairy chest (thats a joke btw :D)

basically epilating sucks, but is really nice smooth skin lol

i have, but if im honest, it didnt make it much better, i feel it will have to be something i do little at a time, rather than all in one session, im gonna be such a baby when i do laser aha

Be thankful you have laser. I did it the old fashioned way. Electrolysis, one hair at a time. And every one had to be burned out several times. I was in that couch for hours every week for years. That was a HUGE expense.  By the way, has anyone ever noticed that you look a whole lot like Amanda Tapping? I love her!

I don't know how think your chest hair is..... I didn't have a lot but I had some. It disappeared after my sex change, oh wait, SRS.... what I really meant was GRS... oh crap I bet there's a new one and I don't know what it is. I just posted somewhere else that since I last visited, the word 'cis' has been used a lot and I had to go look it up. I mean in context it was sort of clear but I thought maybe it was an acronym or something. Apparently not. Must be a new word like dite.

Well you could try ice cubes...
holding the skin taught...
using slower speed...
and look up the manual, there might be some hints for beginners...

I used self hypnosis pain control techniques. Some good ones:

1. Envision yourself standing to the side watching you epilating. Imagine watching yourself and marveling at how the person you're looking doesn't seem to feel much.
2. Imagine ahead of time how it's going to feel, and imagine the pain will just be a minor annoyance. Keep that imagine in your mind as you're doing it.
3. Imagine that you're being caressed. Imagine a soft, sensitive touch each time you epilate.

None of these made the pain go away, but they made it bearable.

Good luck.

Some areas are tolerable, but on some areas it hurts like hell at first... After you epilate those areas again and again it becomes less painful. What was almost unbearable at first, has become much more easier to do now. Only on inner thighs, near pubic area, I really still can't do it, so I just shave that...

I will echo this.  The first time I did my chest was super painful. Now it is nothing.
"Choosing to be true to one's self — despite challenges that may come with the journey — is an integral part of realizing not just one's own potential, but of realizing the true nature of our collective human spirit. This spirit is what makes us who we are, and by following that spirit as it manifests outwardly, and inwardly, you are benefiting us all." -Andrew WK

I did one tiny area the inside of my thigh near my knee. It has never been the same! Sometimes itchy rashy or otherwise sensitive. Why don't more people just laser!!?

It's not such a priority to have laser hair removal on legs compared to other things. Therefore money goes for other things first. Like for facial hair, laser and electrolysis. Electrolyis could cost $10,000 or more.. or FFS which costs $20,000 or $30,000+ in some cases. SRS costs around 20,000. Some people choose to have breast augmentation, or lipofat transfer to hips&bum, and that ain't cheap either. Voice feminization surgery costs at least $8,000... So it's about what ones priorities are. I definitely plan to use laser hair removal basically everywhere, but I don't know when exactly will I have an extra $5000 to spend on laser, instead of putting it for more important purpose.

Yeah it's normal, I've been using Epilators for so many years, my Bruan Silk Epil is more than 4 or 5 YO now, probably needs updating. Anyway digressing... I used to have to do my whole body, but HRT took care of most of it just leaving Legs and to a lessor degree my arms... But your pain tolerance does get better, the more you use it, the pain sensors and brain start to block out the pain... Tip don't use it on hair longer than about half an inch IMHO as I found longer hair tend to tangle and gets ripped out.... Ouch, very ouch

Fortunately I wasn't all that hairy when I started to transition, but I found waxing to be best.  I will confess to sometimes losing my nerve because it hurt like anything especially on my face and yes it would bleed, but I found that in conjunction with taking Spiro the regrowth hair became much finer and lost its dark colour which made life a little easier.
Back then there was no lazer therapy and eventually I had my face sorted out with electrolysis which saw my facial hair off good and proper.  Cindi, reading that you need to have each hair burned out several times made me shiver.  Mine died at once and that was quite enough pain for me!  Self meditation techniques largely worked for me when it came to weeding out hair and also worked for me during electrolysis.  Except for my upper lip, - that made me cry no matter how hard I tried to distance myself from it.

is it normal to have lots of spots and bumps appear for a couple days after?
  •

Lady Smith

Yes it is normal.  It's a good idea to apply an antiseptic cream afterwards to stop any infection and aid healing.

In my experience it gets better each time you do it as long as you keep it up. I let things go over the winter and cleaning it back up for the first time sucked. However since then it hasn't been too bad. armpits are a bit sensative. male part is the worst.

Not me. After about six months of doing it every few weeks, I said NO MAS!
