I have some questions to enquire about some hormones and in case I get a little lost around the site I will also post my questions here to if I may.
1. Have there been problems with anyone taking estradiol hemihydrate such as dry brittle hair or some hair loss?
2. Should a person who is either post-op or Intersexed need to take androgen blockers even in a small dose?
3. Is it important or necessary to take either a progestin or progesterone?

My questions are in reference to the scalp hair condition and growth and not for anything else.

My hair is always dry and breaking as well as a lot of telogen effluvium hair shedding, especially during hair washing. It has come to the point I dread washing my hair as I lose tons.

My mom always used to say to me over the years 'you would have been bald years ago if you had genetic hair loss but your hair keeps growing in all the time so it must be something your taking that keeps aggravating it?'

So I'm wondering if maybe I have a hormone imbalance? If I take 'estrofem' the hair shedding gets worse and my hair get real out of condition like too dry, yet my boobs swell and get really painful on just 2mg twice a day so I halved the dose to just 2mg, same thing. I've had this with estrofem before over the years so I've now decided to throw it out. Oh, I was also quite aggressive on it too. I was also taking a natural progestone too I managed to get shipped called 'cyclogest 200mg suppositories.' I've also been taking a very small dose of finasteride and I do mean small as I use a pill cutter, but since taking the finasteride since 4 months ago it's my hair has gotton worse.

I can never find any literature about how often progesterone should be taken? Should it be taken everyday? if so I heard the bodies receptors become over saturated therefore a break from progesterone is required? There again, I also heard if you chop and change levels such as take it just 10 days of the months this can upset the hair receptors? OMG like, help?

If this is so then I am wondering if taking estrogen continuously can cause the estrogen receptors likewise to also become over saturated? If this is so then I am wondering what the side effects of such would be? Estrogen dominance maybe? Apart from natural female ovulation the hormones work in harmony like a tide coming in and going out all balanced naturally together although many women have mega problems too so it isn't all plain sailing by a long way. Over the years I have always wondered if this cycle helps the bodies receptors to break away kinda starving them making them get hungry for more on the way? Makes sense I think, but there again I've been taking pills lotions and potions all my life and still I have problems with my hair.

A trichologist once told me 'chopping and changing doses or cycling hormones only further upsets the hair follicles and this will cause hair shedding. Hair shedding is not the same as balding as most people out there already know.

Finally, from what I've researched in the past; post-op m/f or Intersexed females cannot lose their hair as they do not produce enough androgens to convert into the end result dht.

I am perfectly natural looking as I have been on this stuff all my life but, to come out openly about this, I have virtually 0.00 sex drive, little motivation and I feel tired all the time with little energy which is not normally like me, so I'm wondering if it is because of the hair situation making me feel down or there is something else going on here that may need looking into that could be the cause of all this?

I know no two people are the same and what suits one person may not suit another and that's because although our bodies work the same, each of us can react differently to whatever we take be it medicine or food.

I do know I am very sensitive to medications.

I know I can't expect someone here to wave a magic wand and come up with the answer for me, that's why I believe I should go get myself checked out and hopefully get this resolved by getting the necessary bloodworks and tests done.

The reason I am open about this as well as it may help others of course if they have a similar problem as I know 1000's of women including young women too also suffer with this. I am also hoping for some input from anyone else who may have experienced similar.

I see it this way: I can go for a hair strand testing. I can go see a dermatologist. Someone also mentioned seeing an Internal doctor whatever that means? and I can go see an Endocrinologist and I can go see a Thyroid doctor. But the problems here is (I am not rich) I am just a normal person with limited funds so I guess seeing all five specialists is going just a little bit too far maybe.

There are Endo's and there are Endo's n I have seen a whole bunch of useless Endo's during my life trust me who either don't know what they are doing or, don't care? When I was a child the professor my parents found for me was Soooo cool, he was the best ever he was like family to me, but sadly he passed away when I was hitting my teen years and I never ever found anyone anywhere near as kind and caring and considerate as he ever was. I did go to see a younger professor who took over from him when I was in my mid teens but he was horrible and showed no concern, in fact he even gave the impression he didn't like the way I was born which made me feel so much more comfortable about my life. It's been that way ever since and I suppose I have just been unlucky not getting the right Endo to take his/her job seriously enough to want to address my problems.

A good referral to me would be worth it's weight in gold if anyone would be kind enough to help me find the right Endo please.

I am living in Irving Texas.

Thank you.

Hi Tianna,

You do need a specialist Endo. I believe there is a TG medical Centre in Austin, you could and should ask your family Dr to consult with the team there to help you.

Hi Cindy,

Thank you for your message. Could you please elaborate. do you have a name of an Endo or the name of the center you are referring to in Austin please, it would be really helpful if you could. Austin is a 6 hour drive there n back from Dallas but I don't mind that if only I could find a good Endo.

many thanks

I'm in South Australia so don't know Texas very well

It is a long way to swim

Some of the other USA girls will know of them.

Also try www.wpath.org they have a list of providers including the Austin Texas facility (I think)
