California's system of direct democracy — the voter initiative process — has produced landmark laws reducing property taxes, banning affirmative action and legalizing medical marijuana.

Now there's a bid to declare that "the people of California wisely command" that gays and lesbians can be killed.

You read that right.

The "Sodomite Suppression Act," as proposed, calls sodomy "a monstrous evil" that should be punishable "by bullets to the head or any other convenient method."

Unfortunately for a select group of bigots but fortunately for humankind, no state could constitutionally (or conscionably) enact a law requiring that LGBT people be executed with a shot to the head. And yet....

It's sickening to the point it turns my stomach hearing that they have to allow them to collect signatures for such a disgusting ballet issue. I pray and hope they don't collect enough signatures to make the ballet. This is something I would expect of the states in the southeast or Texas.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris asked a court Wednesday to intervene and allow her to block an incendiary planned ballot measure authorizing the killing of gays and lesbians.

There's a form online for filing complaints against CA lawyers for failure to uphold ethical standards. I think we should all complain against this tosser.

Seems advocating murder based on sexual orientation or for any reason for that matter would provoke an investigation on both the State and Federal level

I'll bet that if this measure were to pass into law and someone that is LGBT handed the lawyer a gun and told him to go ahead and shoot he wouldn't have the courage of his convictions. It's all a bunch of idiotic posturing and grandstanding. Hopefully he will be disbarred

I can't believe a lawyer ,of all people, would be stupid enough to publicly convey a terroristic threat.  The attorney general should be all over that POS.
