Naugle Undeterred, Says Gay Sex Is Public Health Issue
POSTED: 8:07 am EDT August 29, 2007

"This community takes pride in the diversity of our residents and visitors," Commissioner Ken Keechl said. "Our tourism industry long ago rolled out the rainbow carpet to GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) travelers and we remain committed."

Well I'm probably in the minority, but I feel sorry for the guy.  Apparently he did not speak against being gay, but against public sex in the rest rooms.  The tourism council never denied that he was telling the truth, either.  They just wanted it kept quiet.  I don't want to see that going in in public rest rooms.  Seems like cleaning that up would be a positive for tourism.

I'm with you, Kristi. I don't see that it's homophobic not to want people having sex in public bathrooms. It's not something I want to see or listen to.

He brought religious leaders in to condemn homosexuality so that he would not have to say it out loud. Only 8 men have been arrested in two years. He is on an anti-gay crusade and dressing it up as a public health issue.

Well that does make it a little more interesting.  I went back and read some of the other links on this story.  I still don't want to see sex happening in bathrooms, but I think he should be up front about his agenda.

Perhaps he did not single out gays as the problem, but he prefaced his remarks with comments about welcoming the GLBT community and welcoming diversity. He sure as hell wasn't inferring that str8 men were the problem.

Ironically, what is coming to light is that all of the recent conservatives being outed of late points to the fact that none of those guys involved in public sex identifies as gay! They are all str8 men having sex with other str8 men if you listen to them.

I had a gay male as a housemate at one point several years ago, and he claimed that all of those men he had sex with in public places were ALL str8 identified. In fact, he bragged that he never had sex with gay-identified men.  What does that tell you about the level of self-denial involved in the situation?

Yea, instead of facing a public health issue,  "sex in public restrooms", he made it a gay issue which it is not.  He deserves to get canned.

I never really saw the attraction of sex in a bathroom either until I watched Torchwood. In the second ep they have a pretty steamy scene in the bathroom. Well until the guy went to pieces, literally. LOL. Good lesbian make out scene in the same ep.

BTW, cleanest club restroom that I have ever seen, in that episode. Totally unrealistic.  ;D
