Gov. Steve Bullock: "What's happening in Indiana is something that shouldn't be happening in Montana."

HELENA, Mont. — The Montana Legislature turned away a proposed referendum Friday that if enacted by voters would have given people grounds to disobey any state laws that violate their religion.

After a heated floor debate that moved the bill sponsor to raise his camouflaged Bible, state representatives failed to pass House Bill 615 on a 50-50 vote. The bill resembles a recent Indiana law that allows open discrimination for the sake of "religious freedom."

Opponents said the bill language was so vague that it would have allowed any business, church or individual to openly discriminate and violate laws.

Sweet Lord I have no patience with bigots who wave Bibles about as if they are licences to be mean to people they don't like.

Thankfully Montana's legislators (half of them anyway) had more sense than the ones here...  glad it was voted down...

Aw darn, and there goes my chance to start the Church of All Drugs, All Firearms and Prostitution of Any Kind...

jk, I'm glad there are some intelligent people in Montana
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.

My religion says that I should carry around my handgun at all times, and have it constantly pointed at people's heads.

I don't know why people always get upset.  These are my deeply held beliefs.

As a Practicing Sith Lord It is my religious right to electrocute, strangle, and decapitate anyone who makes me  upset, in general with lots of talk about my POWER!!!

naturally to not carry every feeling of rage and hate to there utmost end would be against my religion and hence protected by this bill. :-)
What is a Lie when it's at home? Anyone?
Is it the depressed little voice inside? Whispering in my ear? Telling me to give up?
Well I'm not giving up. Not for that part of me that hates myself. That part wants me to wither and die. not for you. Never for you.  --Loki: Agent of Asgard

A miracle, and a sad statement about my the place I live (Indiana). Montana is lucky, most of our politicians (and some of our pizza parlors) have turned our state into a national disgrace. BTW, "Pence" is now a verb, it means to seriously ->-bleeped-<- up.
